Those Who Welcome & Those Who Don't Welcome Fellow Believers of Christ |
3 John 1:1-14 The 3rd Epistle, [a.k.a. Letter,] of John [in Smaller Chunks] |
[From:] the elder, to the well-beloved Gaius, whom I love in the Truth. [John 14:6 Jesus [said] to [Thomas,] I Am the Way, the Truth, & the Life. No man [comes] to the Father, [except] by Me.] |
Beloved, above all things, I wish that you [may] prosper, & be in [good] health, even [like my] soul [prospers, a.k.a. benefits.] For I greatly rejoiced, when the brethren came & testified [about] the Truth, that is [within] you, even [like] you [walk, a.k.a. follow,] in the Truth. |
I have no greater joy, than to hear that my children, [a.k.a. inexperienced believers in Jesus Christ, follow] in Truth. Beloved, you faithfully [do, whatever] you [do for] the brethren, [a.k.a. fellow-believers of Jesus Christ,] & to strangers, [who] have borne witness, [a.k.a. testified, in front of] the church, [about] your charity, [a.k.a. love.] |
You shall do well, if you bring [them] forward, [a.k.a. if you financially assist them,] on their journey, [according to] a [group that is:] godly, [a.k.a. filled with the love of God.] |
Because they went [out,] taking nothing [from] the Gentiles, for [Jesus Christ's] Name's sake. Therefore, we ought to receive, [a.k.a. welcome,] such, [so] that we might be fellow-helpers, [assisting them in spreading] the Truth. |
I wrote to the church, put Diotrephes, who [loves] to have [the most respect] among them, [didn't] receive, [a.k.a. accept,] us. [For this reason,] if I come, I will remember his deeds, [that] he [does, spreading] malicious words against us. |
And not being content, [a.k.a. being satisfied, with that,] neither [does] he, receive, [a.k.a. welcome,] the brethren, himself. And [forbids those, who] would [welcome the fellow-believers,] & casts, [a.k.a. throws,] them out of the church. |
Beloved, [don't] follow [what] is: evil, but [follow what] is: good. He, [who does] good is [from] God. But he, [who does] evil, [hasn't] seen God. [1 Timothy 6:11-12 But you, O man of God, flee these things; & follow after [what is:] [righteous; godly;] [within the] faith; [with:] love; patience; & meekness, [a.k.a. humility.] Fight the good fight of faith [in Jesus Christ,] & lay hold on, [a.k.a. grab on to,] Eternal Life, [which] you [are] also called [to do,] & [have confessed] a good profession [of faith] [in front of] many witnesses.] |
Demetrius [has] [gotten a] good report, [from] all men, & [from] the Truth, [Himself.] [Yes,] & we also bear record, [a.k.a. testify;] & you know that our [testimony] is true. [1 Timothy 3:7 [Also,] he must have a good report, [a.k.a. reputation, from those who] are [outside,] [the faith,] lest he [falls] into [disgrace,] & is snared, [a.k.a. trapped, by] the devil. ] |
I had many things to write, but I won't write to you with ink & pen. But I trust, [that] shortly, I shall see you, & we shall speak face to face. |
Peace be to you. Our friends salute, [a.k.a. greet,] you. Greet the friends by name. |
