Proverbs 19:1-29                                  Proverbs [in Smaller Chunks]

The poor, [who] walk, [a.k.a. follow,] in his integrity [are] better, than is the fool [with] [deceit on] his lips. [Proverbs 28:8 He [who increases] his [possessions,] by [excessive] [interest,] & [unfair] [financial] gain, & shall gather it for him, [who] will [use it to show] pity on the poor.]

Also, it’s not good that the soul [is] without knowledge, & he [who hurries] with his feet [to do what is wrong] [sins.]

The foolishness of man [leads him astray] against the Lord, & his heart [frets, [a.k.a. is anxious.]  Wealth [makes] many friends; but the poor [are] separated from his [neighbor.] [Amos 5:12 For I know your [many] transgressions, & your mighty sins. They: afflict the just, [a.k.a. honest,] they take a bribe, & they turn the poor aside from their [rights in the gate.]

A false witness shall not [go] unpunished, & he, [who speaks] lies shall not escape. [Exodus 23:1 You shall not raise a false report; & [don't] put your hand with the wicked,to be an unrighteous, [a.k.a. false,] witness.]

Many will [request] the [favor] of the prince; & every man is a friend to him [who gives] gifts. [2 Chronicles 9:1-2 And when the queen of Sheba heard of [Solomon's] fame, she came with a very [large] company, [a.k.a. caravan,] & camels that [carried] spices, & gold in abundance, & precious stones, [a.k.a. gems, [to] Jerusalem to [test] Solomon with hard questions. And when she [came] to Solomon, she [talked] with him [about] all that was [within] her heart. And Solomon [answered] all her questions. And there was nothing [hidden] from Solomon, [that] he [didn't tell] her.]

All the brethren, [a.k.a. relatives,] of the poor hate him; & how much more, do his friends go far from him? He [calls after] them with words, yet they are [indifferent,] & [stay away from] him. [Psalm 38:11 [Those] [I love,] & my friends stand aloof, [a.k.a. indifferent,] from my [affliction,] & my kinsmen, [a.k.a. relatives,] stand [far] off.

He, [who gets] wisdom [loves] his own soul, [a.k.a. life,] & he, [who keeps] understanding shall find [what is:] good. A false witness shall not [go] unpunished; & he, [who speaks] lies, shall perish.

[It's] not [appropriate] for a fool [to] delight [in luxury,] & [it's] much less [appropriate] for a servant to have [control] over princes. The man of discretion, [a.k.a. making responsible choices, postpones] his anger; & it is [to] his glory, [a.k.a. praise,] to [overlook] a transgression. [Proverbs 11:13 A tale-bearer, [a.k.a. gossip, reveals] secrets; but he [who has] a faithful, [a.k.a. loyal,] spirit, [conceals, a.k.a. hides,] the matter.]

The king’s [anger is like] the roaring of a lion; but his favor is [like] dew upon the grass. [Micah 5:7 And the rest of Jacob, [a.k.a. Israel,] shall be in the midst of many people, [like] dew from the Lord, & [like] the showers upon the grass, that [doesn't linger,] for man, nor [wait] for the sons of men.]

A foolish son is the [ruin] of his father, & the [arguments] of a wife are a continual [dripping,] [like a faucet.] [Proverbs 21:19 It is better to [live] in the wilderness, than with an [argumentative,] & angry woman.]

[A] house & riches are the inheritance [from] fathers; & the [wise] wife is from the Lord. [Proverbs 18:22 [Whoever finds] a wife, [finds] a good thing, & [obtains favor from] the Lord.]

[Laziness causes] deep sleep; & an idle soul, [doing nothing,] shall suffer hunger. [Proverbs 6:6-9 Go to the ant, you [lazy one,] & consider her ways, & be wise. [That have] no [leader, supervisor,] or ruler, & [provides] her meat in the summer, & [gathers] her food in the harvest. O sluggard, how long [will] you sleep? When [will] you arise out of your sleep?]

He, [who keeps] the [commandments, saves] his own soul; but he, [who despises God’s] ways, shall die.  [Mark 7:6-7 [Jesus] answered & said to them, [Isaiah has] prophesied well of you hypocrites. [Like] it is written [in the Scriptures,] The people [honor] Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. [However,] they worship Me in vain, teaching the commandments of men, for doctrines.]

He, [who has] pity on the poor, [lends for] the Lord, & [what] he [has] given, [God] will pay him again. [Revelation 22:12-13 *And, [watch,] I come quickly; & My reward is with Me, & shall be to give [to] every man according [to] his work, [a.k.a. deeds I Am [the] Alpha & [the] Omega, the Beginning & the End, the First & the Last.]

[Discipline] your son while there is hope, & [don’t] let your soul spare [him,] because of] his crying. [Hebrews 12:6-7 For the Lord [chastises,] whom He [loves,] & [punishes] every son whom He [receives.] If you endure [chastising,] God [deals] with you [like] sons; for what son is he, whom the father [doesn't chastise?]

A man shall suffer punishment [for] [his] great [fury,] & if you deliver him [from it,] you must [still] do it again. [Isaiah 47:10-11 For you [have] trusted in your wickedness. You [have] said, [No one sees] me. Your wisdom & your knowledge [have led you astray.] And you [have] said in your heart, I am, & [no one] else beside me. Therefore, evil shall come upon you, & you [shall] not know from [were] it [rises.] And mischief, [a.k.a. trouble, shall] fall upon you, & you [shall] not be able to put it off, [a.k.a. postpone it.] And desolation shall come upon you suddenly, [that] you [shall] not know [about.]

Hear [advice,] & receive instruction, [so] that you [may] be wise in your [later] end, [a.k.a. at the end of your life.] There are many [plans] in a man’s heart; [still] the [Lord’s advice] [is what] shall stand. [Isaiah 46:9-10 Remember the [previous] things of old; for I Am God, & there is none else. I Am God, & there is none like Me, declaring the end, from the beginning, & from ancient times, [declaring] the things that aren't done yet, saying, My counsel shall stand, & I will do My pleasure.]

A [man’s] desire is [the Lord God's] kindness, & [being] a poor man is better than [being] a liar. The fear, [a.k.a. respect,] of the Lord [leads] to [Eternal] Life, & he, [who has] it, shall [remain] satisfied; & he shall not be visited with evil. [Romans 6:23 For the wages for sin is death; but the gift of God is Eternal Life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.]

A [lazy] man [hides] his hand in his [chest,] & won’t so much as bring it to his mouth again. [Proverbs 18:9 Also he [who] is [lazy,] in his work, is [a] brother to him [who] is a great waster [of time.]

[Strike] a scorner, [a.k.a. someone who looks down on others,] & the simple [minded] will be [cautious.] And [correct someone who has] understanding, & he will understand knowledge.[Proverbs 9:8 [Don't correct] a scorner, lest he [hates] you. [Scold] a wise man, & he will love you.]

He, [who wastes] his [father’s] [money,] & [chases] his mother away, is a son [who causes] shame, & [brings disgrace.] My son, [stop hearing] the instruction that [causes] [you] to [go astray] from the words of knowledge.

An ungodly witness [scorns, a.k.a. looks down on] judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] & the mouth of the wicked [devours] [what is:] [sinful.] Judgments are prepared for scorners, [a.k.a. those who think they are better than others,] & stripes, [a.k.a. whip marks,] [are] for the backs of fools. [Proverbs 26:3 A whip [is] for the horse, a bridle [is] for the [donkey,] & a rod  [is] for a fool's back.]

A man, [who] [has] separated himself, [because of] desire, [seeks] & [interferes] with all wisdom. [Proverbs 2:10-12 When wisdom [enters] into your heart, & knowledge is pleasant to your soul, [a.k.a. life,] discretion, [a.k.a. the ability to make responsible choices,] shall preserve, [a.k.a. safeguard,] you, & understanding shall keep you [safe,] to deliver you from the [ways] of the evil man, & from the man, [who speaks deceitful] things.]

A fool has no delight in understanding, but [thinks] that his heart may [learn it] itself. [Proverbs 2:3-5 [Yes] if you [cry] [out] after knowledge, & [lift] up your voice for understanding; & if you seek [it] like silver, & [search] for [it like hidden] treasures; then you [shall] understand the fear, [a.k.a. respect,] of the Lord, & find the knowledge of God.]

When the wicked [come,] then [disrespect comes,] & also with [the dishonorable, disgrace] [comes.] [Proverbs 2:13-14 [Those] who leave the paths of [righteousness,] to walk in the [paths] of darkness. Who rejoice [in doing] [what is:] evil, & delight in the [deceitfulness] of the wicked.]

The words [from] a man’s mouth are [like] deep waters, & the [fountain] of wisdom [is] [like] a flowing brook. [James 3:17 First, the wisdom that is from [God] above is pure, & then: [peaceful,] gentle & easy to [request,] & full of mercy, & [produces] good fruits, [a.k.a. good deeds, impartial,] & without hypocrisy, [a.k.a. saying one thing & doing another.]

It isn’t good to [show preference to] the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment. [1 Peter 1:16-19 Because it is written [in the Scriptures,] Be holy, for I Am Holy. And if you call on the Father, Who [judges] without respect of [people's] [status, a.k.a. impartially, but] [judges] according to every man's work, [a.k.a. deeds, so] pass the time of your [waiting] here in fear, a.k.a. respect, since] you know that you weren't Redeemed with corruptible things [like] silver, & gold, or from vain, [a.k.a. worthless,] conversations, received from your [forefathers' traditions;] *but [were Redeemed] with the precious blood of Christ, [like] a lamb without blemish, & without spot, [a.k.a. without sin.]

A fool’s lips enter into [arguments,] & his mouth [calls] for [blows.] A fool’s mouth [leads to] his destruction, & his lips [entrap] his soul. [Proverbs 10:3 The Lord won't [allow] the soul, [a.k.a. life,] of the righteous to [starve,] but He [casts] away the [possessions] of the wicked.]

The words of a [gossip] are [like] wounds, & they go down to the innermost parts of [his being.]  [Psalm 57:4 My soul, [a.k.a. life,] is among lions; & I even lie among [those, who] are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears & arrows, & their tongue, a sharp sword.]

He, [who] is [lazy] in his work, is also [a] brother to him, [who] is a great [time] waster. [Proverbs 6:9-10 O [lazy person,] How long [will] you sleep? When [will] you arise out of your sleep? [Still,] a little sleep, a little slumber, & a little folding the hands to sleep.]

The Name of the Lord is a strong tower: & the righteous [run] into it & [are] safe. [Psalm 61:2-3 When my heart is overwhelmed, I will cry [out] to You from the [ends] of the earth. Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I [am.] For You [have] been a shelter for me, & a strong tower from the enemy.]

The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, & his own conceit [is] [like] a high wall. [Psalm 20:7 Some trust in chariots, & some [trust] in horses, but we will remember the Name of the Lord our God.]

The heart of a man is [arrogant,] before destruction, & humility is before [honor.] [Proverbs 16:18-19 Pride [goes] before destruction, and [a] haughty, [a.k.a. arrogant,] spirit [goes] a fall. It is better to be of [a] humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the [plunder] with the proud.]

He [who answers] a matter before he [hears] it, is folly, [a.k.a. lacks good judgment,] & [brings] shame to [himself.] The spirit of a man will sustain [him in] his infirmity, but who can bear a wounded, [a.k.a. broken,] spirit? [Psalm 51:10 O God, Create in me a clean heart, & renew a right spirit within me.]

The heart of the [cautious gets] knowledge; & the ear of the wise [seeks] knowledge. [Proverbs 9:10 The fear, [a.k.a. respect,] of the Lord, is the beginning of wisdom; & understanding is the knowledge of the holy.]

A man’s gift [gets him in their good graces, so they] make room for him, & [bring] him before great, [a.k.a. important] men. [Genesis 32:19-20 And so [Jacob] commanded the 2nd, & 3rd, & all [who] followed the droves [of livestock,] saying, You shall speak to Esau, when you find him, [like] this, & you [also] say, [Look,] your servant, Jacob, is behind us. For he said, I will appease [Esau] with the present that [goes in front of] me. And afterward, I will see [Esau's] face; & [perhaps] he will accept me.]

He, [who] is first in his own cause [seems] just: but his neighbor [comes,] & [questions] him. The [impartial] lot [causes disputes] to [stop,] & [keeps apart] the mighty. [Numbers 26:55-56 [Still,] the land shall be divided by lot, & they shall inherit according to the names of their [forefathers'] tribes. And the possession [of it,] shall be divided between many [Israelits,] & few, according to the lot.]

A brother offended is harder to be won [over] than a strong city; & their [disputes] are like the [gate] bars of a castle. A man’s [stomach] shall be satisfied with the fruit [a.k.a. words produced, from] his mouth, & he shall be filled with the increase [produced] [from] his lips. [Proverbs 12:14 By the fruit of his mouth, a man shall be satisfied with good; & the [repayment] of a man's hands shall be [given] to him.]

[Both] death & life are [within] the power of the tongue, [a.k.a. mouth,] & [those who] love it, shall eat the [fruits of it.]  [James 3:8-9 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. [With this,] we bless, even God the Father, & [with this,] we also curse men, [who] are made in the [image] of God.]

[Whoever finds] a wife, [finds] a good thing, & [obtains] [the] [favor] of the Lord.  [Genesis 2:18 And the Lord God said, It isn't good that the man should be alone. I will make him [a] help [mate] for him.]

The poor use [urgent] [requests,] [begging;] but the rich [answer] roughly.  [Psalm 49:6-9 None of [those who] trust in their wealth, & boast themselves [about] the multitude of their riches; can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him. (For the redemption of their soul is precious, [a.k.a. priceless,] & [money] [ceases] [to have value] forever.)]

A man, [who has] friends must show [he’s] friendly, & there is a friend, [who sticks] closer [to him] than a brother. [John 15:14-15 You are My friend, if you do [whatever] I command you. I [don't] call you servants [from now on,] for the servant [doesn't know] what his Lord [does.] But I have called you friends; for I have made all things known to you, that I have heard [from] My Father.]

A dry morsel [of food] & quietness, [a.k.a.  peace,] is better than [a] house full of [sacrificial] [meals] with [arguments.] [1 Corinthians 10:27-31 If any of [those who] [are] [unbelievers invited] you to a feast, & you [are] disposed, [a.k.a. Inclined,] to go, eat [whatever] is set [in front of] you, asking no [questions] for [your] [conscience's] sake. But if any man [says] to you, This is offered in sacrifice to idols, [don't] eat [it,] for his sake, [who declared] it. For the earth is the Lord's, & the fullness [of it.] [When] I say conscience, I [don't] [mean] your own [conscience,] but [for] the other [person's.] Why is my liberty, [a.k.a. freedom,] judged by another man's conscience? For: if by grace [I am] a partaker, why am I spoken of [evilly,] for what I give thanks? Therefore, whether you eat, or drink, or [whatever] you do, do all to the glory of God.

A wise servant shall have [control] over a son, [who causes] shame, & shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren. [Grandchildren] are the crown of old men & are the children of their [father’s] glory. [Psalm 128:3-6 Your wife shall be [like] a fruitful, [a.k.a. productive,] vine by the sides of your house, & your children [shall be] [like] olive plants, [all around] your table. [See,] the man shall be blessed [like this, who fears, a.k.a. respects,] the Lord. The Lord shall bless you out of Zion, & you [shall] see the good of Jerusalem, all the days of your life. [Yes,] you [shall] see: your children's children, & [shall see] peace upon Israel.]

Excellent speech [isn’t becoming for] a fool; & lying lips [are even less becoming for] a prince. A gift is [like] a precious stone, [a.k.a. jewel,] [that sparkles] in the eyes of him [who has] it: [wherever] [he] [turns] it, [it's beneficial.]

He, [who covers, a.k.a. hides,] a [sin seeks] love: but he, [who repeats] a matter [separates] [the] very [best of] friends. [Proverbs 16:28 A [deceitful] man [sows, a.k.a. plants, discord;] & a [gossip separates best] friends.]

[Correction benefits] a wise man more than 100 stripes, [a.k.a. lashes of the whip,] to a fool. [Micah 7:9 I will bear, [a.k.a. endure,] the [Lord's] indignation, [a.k.a. anger aroused by injustice,] because I have sinned against Him, until He [pleads] my [case,] & [carries out:] judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] for me. He will bring me [out] to the Light, & I shall [see] His righteousness.]

An evil man only [seeks] rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him. [Isaiah 1:23-24 Your princes are rebellious, & companions of thieves. Everyone [loves] gifts, & [follows] after rewards, [a.k.a. bribes.] They [don't] judge the fatherless, & neither [does] the [case] of the widow come to them. Therefore, the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, [says,] Ah, I will ease [Myself] of [My] adversaries, & avenge [Myself] of [My] enemies.]

[It is better that] a man [meets] a bear robbed of her [cubs,] rather than [meet] a fool in his [foolishness.] [Whoever rewards] evil for good [done to him,] evil shall not depart from his house. [Romans 12:7 Provide honest things in the sight of all men, & [don't] [repay] evil to [any] man, for evil [done.]

The beginning of [quarrels] is [like] when [someone lets] [a flood of] water out: therefore [stop arguments,] before [others] meddle, [a.k.a  interfere,] with it.     [1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 And that you study, [a.k.a. learn,] to be quiet, & [mind] your own business, & work with your own hands, [like] we [have] [instructed] you, [so] that you may walk honestly toward [those who] are without [faith in Jesus Christ,] [so] that you may [not] lack [anything.]

He, [who justifies] the wicked, & he, [who condemns] the just, [a.k.a. honest,] are both [abominations] to the Lord. [Isaiah 5:22-23 Woe to [those who] are mighty to drink wine, & [strong] men, to [mix] strong [drinks,] who justify the wicked for reward, [a.k.a. bribes,] & take away the righteousness from the righteous!]

[Why] is there [money] in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing [his] heart [isn’t open] to it? A friend [loves] at all times, & a brother is born for [times of] adversity.

A man void, [a.k.a. without,] understanding [shakes] hands, in [front] of his friend, & becomes surety, [a.k.a. the guarantor,] [for his friend’s loan.] [Proverbs 22:26-27 [Don't] you be one of [those who shake] hands, or [those who] are [guarantors] for debts. If you [have] nothing to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?]

He [who] [loves discord, loves sin,] & he, [who is prideful, & makes] his gate [elevated seeks] destruction. [Proverb 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, & an [arrogant] spirit before a fall.]

He, [who has] a [deceitful] heart [doesn’t] [find any] good, & he, [who has] a [wicked] tongue [falls] into [evil.]  [Matthew 12:34-37 O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For the mouth [speaks] out of the abundance of the heart. A good man [brings] forth good things out of the good [treasures,] of the heart. And an evil man, [brings] forth evil things, out of the evil [treasures] [of the heart.] But I say to you, That [on] the Judgment Day, they shall give account [of] every idle word that men shall [say.] For you [shall] be justified by your words, & you [shall] be condemned by your words.]

It [is the] sorrow of [him who fathers] a fool. And the father of a fool [has] no joy. [Proverbs 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son [makes] a glad father; but a foolish son is the [grief] of his mother.]

A [happy] heart [does] [it] good like medicine: but a broken spirit [dries] [out] the bones. [Proverbs 15:13 A merry, [a.k.a. happy,] heart [makes] a cheerful [face,] but the spirit of the heart is broken by sorrow.]

A wicked man [takes] a gift, [a.k.a. Bribe,] out [from] the [chest] [pocket] to [distort] the ways of judgment, [a.k.a. justice.] [Micah 3:10-11 They build up: Zion with [bloodshed,] & Jerusalem with [sinfulness.] The [leaders of it] judge for reward, [a.k.a. bribes,] & [its] priests teach for [pay,] & [its] prophets divine for money, & will they [still] lean upon the Lord, & say, Isn't the Lord among us? [No] evil can come upon us.]

Wisdom is before him [who has] understanding: but a [fool’s] eyes [wander to] the ends of the earth. A foolish son is grief to his father, & bitterness to her, [who gave birth to] him. [Proverbs 1:7 The fear, [a.k.a. respect,] of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom, & instruction.]

[It’s] also not good to punish the just, [a.k.a. righteous,] nor to [hit] the princes for equity. [1 Peter 2:20-23 For what glory is it, if, when you [are hit] for your faults, & you take it patiently? But if, when you do well, [a.k.a. good,] & suffer for it, & you take it patiently, this is acceptable with God. For you were even called [to do this,] because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow [in] His steps, Who [didn't] sin, & neither was [deceit] found in His mouth. Who, when He was [insulted, didn't insult, back.] When [Christ] suffered, He [didn't threaten;] but committed Himself to [God, Who judges] righteously. ]

He, [who has] knowledge, [uses] his words [sparingly,] & a man of understanding [has a calm] spirit. Even when a fool [holds] his peace, he is [considered] wise; & he [who shuts] his lips, [a.k.a. mouth,] is [respected] [like] a man of understanding. [Proverbs 10:19 There is [no lack] of sin, in the multitude of words; but he [who holds back] his lips is wise.]
