What Happened to Job's Body |
Job 2:1-13 Book of Job [in Smaller Chunks] |
Again, there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord. And Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord. And the Lord said to Satan [Where] have you come from? And Satan answered the Lord & said, From going to & fro [on] the earth & from walking up & down [on] it. |
And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant, Job, that there [are] none like him [on] the earth, a [blameless] & upright man, one [who] fears [respects] God & [avoids] evil? And still [Job holds tight to] his integrity, although you moved Me against [Job] to destroy him without cause. |
And Satan answered the Lord & said, Skin for skin, [yet,] all that a man has, he will give for his life. But put [out] Your hand now & touch his flesh & bone & he will curse You to Your face. |
And the Lord said to Satan, [Look, Job's] in your hand, but save his life. So, Satan went [out] from the presence of the Lord & [struck] Job with [very painful] boils from the sole of his foot to the crown [of his head.] |
[Then,] Job took a [piece of broken pottery] to scrape himself [with it.] And Job sat down among the ashes. Then, [Job's] wife said to him, [Do] you still [maintain] your integrity? Curse God & die. |
But [Job] said to her, You [speak like] one of the foolish women [speak.] What? Shall we [only] receive good at the hand of God & not receive [bad things?] In all this, Job didn't sin with his lips & [what he said.] |
Now, when Job's 3 friends heard of all the [bad things] that [had] come upon [Job,] they [each] came from his own [area:] Eliphaz, the Temanite; Bildad, the Shuhite & Zophar, the Naamathite, for they had [arranged] to come together to mourn with [Job] & to comfort him. |
And when they [looked] up [from a far distance,] they [didn't know] him. They lifted up their [voices] & wept. [They each tore his cloak] & sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven. |
So, they sat down with [Job] on the ground [for] 7 days & 7 nights [without saying] a word to [Job, because] they saw that [Job's] grief was very great. |
