Paul Wants Them to be Ready in Any Season to Preach About Christ

2nd Timothy 4:1-22           Paul's 2nd Epistle to Timothy [in Smaller Chunks]

Therefore, before God, & the Lord Jesus Christ, Who shall judge the quick, [a.k.a. alive,] & the dead, at [Jesus' appearance,] & [the Lord God's] Kingdom. [Acts 10:40-42 *God raised [Jesus Christ,] up the third day & openly [showed] Him. Not to all the people, but to witnesses [previously] chosen [by] God, even to us, who [ate & drank] with Him, after He rose from the dead. And He commanded us to preach to the people, & to testify that it is He, [Who] was ordained, [a.k.a. appointed by] God to be the Judge of the quick, [a.k.a. alive,] & the dead.]

I [command] you [to] preach the Word [of God,] & be instant, [a.k.a. speedy,] [to preach, regardless of the] season. Reprove, [a.k.a. disapprove,] rebuke, [a.k.a. criticize,] & exhort, [a.k.a. advise,] all [of them,] with long suffering, [a.k.a. patience,] & doctrine, [a.k.a. teaching.] [2 John 1:9 [Whoever sins,] & doesn't abide, [a.k.a. remain,] in the doctrine of Christ, [doesn't have] God. He, [who remains] in the doctrine of Christ, he [has] both: the Father & the Son.]

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but [according to] their own lusts, having itching ears, [a.k.a. wanting to know something,] they shall heap teachers to themselves. And [these teachers] shall turn their ears away from the Truth. [John 14:6 Jesus [said] to him, I Am the Way, the Truth, & the Life. No man [comes] to the Father, [except] by Me.]

And [they] shall be turned to fables. [1 Timothy 1:4 Neither [pay attention] to fables & endless genealogies, [that produce] questions, rather than godly edifying, [a.k.a. instruction,] which is [through] faith [in Jesus Christ,] & do so.]

But you watch, [a.k.a. be careful,] in all things: endure afflictions; do the work of an evangelist; & [further] [provide] full proof, [a.k.a. evidence,] of your ministry. [1 Corinthians 15:3-10 *For first, I delivered to you, all of [what] I also received, & how Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures. *And He was buried, & that He rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures. And that he was seen [by] Cephas, [a.k.a. Simon Peter,] & then, [by] the 12. After that, He was seen [by over] 500 brethren at once; of whom, the greater part, [a.k.a. the majority,] remain [until] this [day.] But some [have] fallen asleep, [a.k.a. have died.] After that, He was seen [by] James, & then [by] all the apostles. And last of all, He was seen [by] me, [like] one born out of due time, [a.k.a. like a baby is born that is past due.] For I am the least of the apostles, & [I'm] not [worthy] to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by [God's] grace, I am what I am. And His grace was bestowed, [a.k.a. presented to] me, & wasn't [done] in vain. But I [labored] [sharing my faith in Jesus Christ,] more abundantly than all [of] them, [still] not I, but the grace of God which was [within] me.]

For I am now ready to be offered, [a.k.a. to give my life, like a sacrifice for the Lord God,] & the time of my departure, [a.k.a. death,] is at hand, [a.k.a. soon.] I have fought a good fight, & I have finished my course, [a.k.a. race,] & I have kept the faith. [Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark, [a.k.a. finish line,] for the prize, [which is] the high calling [from] God, [through] Christ Jesus.]

[From now on,] there is laid up, [a.k.a. set aside,] for me, a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give me [on] that day. And not to only me, but to all [those, who] also love [Jesus Christ as their Savior, when] [He appears.] 2 Peter 3:9-10 The Lord isn't slack, [a.k.a slow,] concerning His promise, [like] some men [consider] slackness; but is long-suffering, [a.k.a. patient, toward] us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. *But the day of the Lord will come [like] a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, & the elements shall melt with fervent heat, & also the earth & the works, [a.k.a. things made,] that are [in there,] shall be burned up.]

Do [diligently, a.k.a. attempt,] to come to me shortly. For Demas, [has abandoned] me, having loved the [current] [wicked] world, & [has] departed to Thessalonica. Crescens [has departed] to Galatia, & Titus [has departed] to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me.

Take Mark, & bring him with you. For [Mark] is profitable, [a.k.a. beneficial,] to  me for the ministry [of sharing our faith in Jesus Christ.] And I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus. When you come, bring with you: the cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, & the books, but especially the parchments, [a.k.a. scrolls.]

[May] the Lord reward Alexander, the copper smith, according to his works, [a.k.a. deeds,] [who] did much evil [to] me. You also [beware] of [Alexander;] for he [has] greatly [resisted] our words [about the faith in Jesus Christ.]

At my first [request for assistance,] no man [answered] & stood with me, but all men [abandoned] me. I pray that God may not [lay] it to their charge, [a.k.a. may not hold them responsible.] [Luke 23:3-34 And when they [had] come to the place, which is called Calvary, they crucified Him there, & the [criminals,] one on the right hand, & the other on the left. Then Jesus said, Father, forgive them; for they [don't] know what they do. And they [divided] His [garments] & cast lots.]

However,] the Lord stood with me, & strengthened me; [so] that the preaching [about Jesus Christ,] might be [totally] known, & all the Gentiles might hear: [through] me. And I was delivered, out of the mouth of a lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, [a.k.a. evil plot,] & will preserve, [a.k.a. save,]  me [for] His Heavenly Kingdom: to Whom [belong] glory, forever & ever. Amen.

Also, know this, that in the last days, perilous times shall come. [Jude verses 17-20 But you, beloved, remember the Words, [that] were spoken [previously by] the apostles [about] our Lord Jesus Christ. How they told you there [would] be mockers, [during] the last [times,] who [would] walk, [a.k.a. follow,] after their own ungodly, [a.k.a. worldly,] lusts. These [are those] [who are] sensual, who separate themselves, [a.k.a. cause divisions,] not having the [Holy] Spirit. But you, beloved [build] up yourselves, [in] your most holy faith, praying [through] the Holy Ghost, [a.k.a. Holy Spirit.]

For [some] men shall be: lovers of their own selves, [a.k.a. conceited;] covetous, [a.k.a. greedy;] boasters; proud; blasphemers, [a.k.a. those who use the Lord God's Name in vain;] [are] disobedient to parents; unthankful; unholy, [a.k.a. ungodly;] without natural affection, [a.k.a. heartless or unloving;] truce-breakers, [a.k.a. rebels;] false accusers, [a.k.a. those who accuse others falsely;] incontinent, [a.k.a. uncontrollable;] fierce; despisers of those, [who] are good; traitors; heady, [a.k.a. those who have an Intoxicating affect on others, as if by alcohol;] high-minded, [a.k.a. arrogant;] lovers of pleasures, more than lovers of God.

Having a form, [a.k.a. an image] of godliness, but denying [the Lord God's] power. Turn away from such [as these.] For this sort of [person] are [those, who] creep into] houses, & lead away, [a.k.a. led astray] silly women captive, [loaded] with [various] sins & lusts. [Always] learning, [but] never able to [grasp] the knowledge of the Truth. [John 14:6 Jesus [said] to him, I Am the Way, the Truth, & the Life. No man [comes] to the Father, [except] by Me.]

Now, [like] Jannes & Jambres, [traditionally known as two of the magicians in Egypt who] withstood, [a.k.a. stood in opposition to,] Moses. [Exodus 8:16-19 And the Lord said to Moses, Say to Aaron, Stretch out your rod, & [strike] the dust, [a.k.a. dirt,] of the land, [so] that it may become lice throughout the land of Egypt. And they did so. For Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, & [struck] the dust of the [ground,] & it became lice [on] man, & [on animals.] All the dust of the land became lice throughout the land of Egypt. And to bring forth lice, the magicians did so with their enchantments, but they could not. So there were lice upon man, & upon [animals.] Then, the magicians said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God. And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, & he [didn't pay attention] to [Moses & Aaron;] [like] the Lord had said.]

So, these [wicked] men [with] corrupt minds, also do resist the Truth, [about] the faith [in Jesus Christ.] But they shall no [longer continue.] For their folly, [a.k.a. foolishness,] shall [become] manifest, [a.k.a. apparent,] to all men, [like] [the magicians' foolishness in trying to stand in opposition to the Lord God,] also was [apparent.]

But you have [completely] known my doctrine, [a.k.a. teaching,] & [type] of: life; purpose; faith; [endurance;] charity, [a.k.a. love,] patience; & [my:] persecutions; afflictions; which [happened] to me [in] Antioch; Iconium; & Lystra.

But  the Lord delivered me out of all [these] persecutions, & I endured them. [Yes,] all [who] will live godly [lives] [through] Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution. But evil men, & seducers, [a.k.a. tempters,] [who lead others astray from faith in Jesus Christ,] shall [grow] worse & worse, deceiving, & being deceived. [2 Corinthians 11:13-14 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no [wonder;] for Satan, himself, is transformed into an angel of light.]

But you continue in the things [that] you have been assured of, & [have] learned, knowing [from] whom you [have] learned them. And from a child, you [have] known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise, [which leads] to Salvation, through faith in Christ Jesus. [John 5:39 Search the Scriptures, for you think you have Eternal Life [through the Scriptures, but] [the Scriptures] are [what] testify of Me.]

All Scripture is given by inspiration [from] God, & [Scripture] is [beneficial] for: doctrine; reproof, [a.k.a. criticism;] correction; & instruction [about] righteousness. [So] that the [human] [followers] of God, may be thoroughly [perfected, & equipped] to [do] all good works, [a.k.a. deeds.] [Acts 10:38-42 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost, [a.k.a. Holy Spirit,] & with power. Who went [around] doing good, & healing all, [who] were oppressed [by demons:] for God was with Him. And we are witnesses of all [the] things [that Jesus] did both in the land of the Jews, & in Jerusalem. Whom they [hung] & [killed,] on a [cross made from a] tree. *God raised Him up the third day & openly [showed] Him. Not to all the people, but to witnesses [previously] chosen [by] God, even to us, who [ate & drank] with Him, after He rose from the dead. Therefore, you, my son, be strong [through] the grace this is [within] Christ Jesus. And commit, [a.k.a. join, yourself] to faithful men, who also shall be able to teach others, the things that you [have] heard [from] me among many witnesses.

[Therefore,] you, [like] a good soldier [sharing your faith in] Jesus Christ, endure, [a.k.a. tolerate, hardships.] No man, [who] [goes to] [war,] entangles himself with the affairs of this [worldly] life, [so] that he may please him, who [has] chosen him to be a soldier.

[2 Peter 2:18-21 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure, [a.k.a. entice, those, who] were clean, through the lusts of the flesh, & through [many lustful desires,] & [had] escaped from [those] who live in error, [a.k.a. who have gone astray.] While they promise them liberty, [a.k.a. freedom,] they, themselves are servants of corruption, [from] whom, a man is overcome, & he is brought [into] bondage [to sin,] [by] the same. If after they have escaped the pollutions of the world, through the knowledge of the Lord & [Savior,] Jesus Christ, they are entangled [in them] again & [are] overcome, & the latter end is worse [for] them, than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the Way of Righteousness, than after they [had] known it, to turn [away] from the holy commandment [that was] delivered to them.]

And if a man also [strives] for [mastery, still] he isn't crowned, [a.k.a. awarded, unless] he [competes] lawfully. The [farmer, who labors, a.k.a. works,] must 1st be [a] partaker of the [harvest of] the fruits [produced.] [1 Corinthians 9:7 Who at any time, [goes] [to] a [war] at his own [expense?] Who [plants] a vineyard, & [doesn't eat from] the fruit [of it?] Or, who [feeds] a flock, & [doesn't] [drink] from the milk of the flock?]

Consider what I say, [so that] the Lord [gives] you understanding in all things. Remember that Jesus Christ, [from] the seed, [a.k.a. lineage,] of David, was raised from the dead, according to my [preaching the] Gospel [about Jesus Christ.] [Revelation 22:16-17 I, Jesus, have sent [My] Angel to testify these things in the churches. I Am the Root & the Offspring of David, & the Bright & Morning Star. And the [Holy] Spirit, & the bride say, Come. And let him, [who hears] say, Come. And let him [who] is [thirsty,] come. And [whoever] [is] [willing,] let him take the Water of Life freely.]

[For that reason,] I [suffered] trouble, [like] an evil doer, even [when sharing my faith in Jesus Christ, led to my being in] bonds, [a.k.a. chains.] But the Word of God isn't bound, [a.k.a. restricted.]

Therefore, I endure all things for the [sake] [of] the [elect, a.k.a. chosen.] [So] that, they may also obtain, [a.k.a. receive,] the Salvation [that] is [through faith] in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. [Revelation 1:5-8 *And from Jesus Christ, Who is the faithful Witness, & the First Begotten [from] the Dead. And the Prince, [a.k.a. Ruler,] of the kings of the earth. [To] Him, [Who] loved us, & washed us from our sins in His Own Blood, & [has] made us kings & priests to God & to His Father. To Him be glory & dominion, [a.k.a. power or authority,] forever & ever. Amen. [Watch,] He [comes] with clouds. And every eye shall see Him. And also [those, who] pierced Him. And all the [families] of the earth shall wail because of Him. Even so, Amen. I Am [the] Alpha & Omega, the Beginning & the Ending, [says] the Lord, [Who] Is, [Who] Was, & [Who] Is to Come, the Almighty.]

It is a faithful, [a.k.a. Truthful,] saying: For if we [are] dead with [Jesus Christ,] we shall also live with Him. If we suffer, [for sharing our faith in Jesus Christ,] we shall also [rule] with Him. [Revelation 20:4-6 And I saw thrones, & [those] [who] sat upon them, judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] was given to them. And I saw the souls of [those, who] were beheaded for [their] witness [about] Jesus, & for [their witness about] the Word of God. And [who] hadn't worshipped the beast, & neither [worshiped] his image, [nor] received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands. And they lived & [ruled] with Christ a 1,000 years.]

If we deny [JesusChrist,] He will also deny us. [Matthew 10:32-33 Therefore, [whoever] shall confess Me [in front of] men, I will also confess him [in front of] My Father, [Who] is in heaven. But [whoever] shall deny Me, [in front of] men, I will also deny, [him] [in front] of My Father, [Who] is in heaven.]

If we [don't believe [in Jesus Christ,] [still Christ remains] faithful, [because] He can't deny Himself. [Remind yourself about] these things, before the Lord, charging, [a.k.a. warning,] them, that they [don't argue] about words, [which aren't beneficial,] but [only lead] to the subverting, [a.k.a. the undermining,] of [those, who] [hear] [about Jesus Christ.]

Study to [demonstrate] yourselves approved [as] a [worker] [sharing your faith] to God, [who] doesn't [need] to be ashamed, & [correctly distributes] the Word of Truth. [John 14:6 Jesus [said] to him, I Am the Way, the Truth, & the Life. No man [comes] to the Father, [except] by Me.]

But shun, [a.k.a. avoid,] profane, [a.k.a. language disrespectful to the Lord God,] & vain babblings, [a.k.a. prideful empty talk.] For they will increase [& lead] to more ungodliness. And their [words] [they say,] will eat [& spread] [like cancer does.] Of whom [are] Hymenaeus & Philetus, who [have done this, &] have erred, [a.k.a. have gone astray, about] the Truth, saying that the Resurrection is already past, [a.k.a. happened,] & they overthrow, [a.k.a. destroy,] the faith of some. [Revelation 22:12-15 *And [watch,] I come quickly; & My reward is with Me & shall be, to give every man according [like] his [works, a.k.a. deeds.] I Am [the] Alpha & Omega, the Beginning & the End, the First & the Last. Blessed are [those, who] do His commandments, [so] that, they may have right to the Tree of Life, & may enter in through the gate into the city. For [outside] are: dogs; sorcerers; [sexual traffickers;] murderers; idolaters; & [whoever loves] & [makes] [up] [lies.]

[However,] the foundation of God [stands] sure, [a.k.a. secure,] having this seal [of approval,] The Lord [knows those, who] are His. And let everyone, [who] names, [a.k.a. calls on,] the Name of Christ, depart from [sin.] [Romans 10:9-13 That if you [shall] confess the Lord Jesus with your mouth, & [shall] believe in your heart that God [has] raised Him from the dead, you [shall] be saved. For man, with the heart, believes, [which leads] to righteousness, & with the mouth, confession is made, [which leads] to Salvation. For the Scripture [says, Whoever believes] in Him, shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew & the Greek, [a.k.a. Gentiles.] For the same Lord, over all, is rich to all [who] call upon Him. For [whoever] shall call upon the Name of the Lord, shall be saved.]

But in a [large] house, there aren't only vessels [made] of gold & silver, but also [made] of wood, & of earth, [a.k.a. clay,] & some [for] honor, & some [for] dishonor. [Romans 9:21-23 [Hasn't] the potter, power over the same lump [of] clay, to make 1 vessel to [honor] & another to dishonor? What if God, [wanting] to [demonstrate] His wrath, & to make His power known, [endures,] the vessels of wrath, [determined for] destruction, with much long-suffering, [a.k.a. patience.] [So] that He might make known the [richness] of His Glory, [through] mercy on the vessels, which He had [previously] prepared for glory.]

Therefore, if a man [purges, a.k.a. rids,] himself from these, [a.k.a. false teachings,] he shall be a vessel [for honor,] sanctified, & [appropriate] for the Master's use, & prepared [for] every good work, [a.k.a. deed.]

Also, flee [from] youthful lusts. But [instead] follow: righteousness; faith; charity, [a.k.a. love;] & peace; with [those, who] call on the Lord, [with] a pure heart. But avoid foolish & [ignorant] questions, knowing that they [generate arguments.]

And the servant of the Lord, [must be] [able] to teach, & [be] patient, & must not [argue,] but [should] be gentle, [a.k.a. kind,] to all men. [Through:] meekness, [a.k.a. humility;] instructing those, [who] oppose [their] [belief in Jesus Christ;] if [perhaps] God will give [these] repentance, to acknowledge the Truth. [John 3:15-17 That [whoever believes] in [Jesus Christ,] should not perish, but [shall] have Eternal Life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son [so] that [whoever believes] in Him, should not perish, but [shall] have Everlasting Life. For God [didn't send] His Son into the world to condemn the World; but that the world might be saved through Him.]

And that they may recover, [a.k.a. rescue,] themselves, who are taken captive [by] the [trap] of the devil, [to do] his will. [Ephesians 6:12-16 For we [don't] wrestle against flesh & blood, but against: principalities; powers; rulers of darkness of this world; & against spiritual wickedness in high places. [For this reason,] take [for yourselves] the whole [armor] of God, [so] that you may be able to withstand [these wicked influences] [on] the evil day. And having done all, to stand, therefore, stand, having your [waist strapped around] with Truth, & having on: the breast-plate of Righteousness. And your feet [with the] [shoes, & prepared by] the Gospel of peace. Above all, [take] the shield of Faith, [with which] you shall be able to quench, [a.k.a. to put out,] the fiery darts of the wicked.]
