Timothy Brought Good News About Those Thessalonians Who Believe in Jesus |
1st Thessalonians 3:1-13 Paul's Epistle to Thessalonians [in Smaller Chunks] |
[For this reason, when we could no longer forbear, [a.k.a. wait,] we thought it [best] to be left at Athens alone. And [we] sent our [fellow-laborer] in the Gospel of Christ, Timotheus, [a.k.a. Timothy,] our brother, & minister of God, to establish & comfort, [a.k.a. encourage,] you [about] your faith [in Jesus Christ.] |
[So] that, no [man's] [faith] should be [shaken] by these afflictions. For [you,] yourselves, know that we are appointed, [a.k.a. selected, to do this.] For [truly,] when we were with you, we told you [beforehand,] [so] you [would] know, that we [would] suffer tribulation, [a.k.a. persecution,] even [like] it [happened.] |
[For this reason,] when I could no longer forbear, [a.k.a. hold back,] I sent to know [the condition of] your faith, lest by some means, the tempter [had] tempted you, & our [labor] [would] be in vain. |
But when [Timothy] came from you now to us, & brought us good tidings, [a.k.a. good news, about] your faith, & charity. And that you have good [memories] of us always, greatly desiring to see us, as we also [desire] to see you. |
Therefore, brethren, we were comforted [about] you & your faith, [during] all our [afflictions] & distress. For we live, if you now stand fast, [a.k.a. strong,] in the Lord. |
For what thanks can we render, [a.k.a. give,] to God, for you again, for all the joy [with which] we [rejoice] for your sakes before our God, praying [continually,] night & day. [So] that we might see your face, & [you] might [be] [perfected, in what] is lacking in your faith. |
Now, [may] God, Himself, & our Father, & our Lord Jesus Christ direct [us on] our way to you. And [may] the Lord make you to increase, [a.k.a. multiply,] & abound in love toward one another, & toward all men, even [like] we do toward you: [in order that: the Lord God] may [establish] your hearts, [without blame,] in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints. |
