Bringing the Ark of the Lord to the City of David |
2 Samuel 6:1-23 The Book of 2 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks] |
Again, David gathered together all the 30,000 chosen, [a.k.a. best.] men of Israel. |
And David arose, & went with all the people, [who] were with him from Baale [a.k.a. Baalah,] of Judah, to bring up from [there] the Ark of God, Whose Name is called the Lord of Hosts, [Who dwells] between the [2] cherubims. |
[1 Kings 8:6-7 And the priests brought in the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord to [its] place, into the oracle of the house, to the Most Holy Place, even under the wings of the cherubims. For the cherubims spread [out] their wings over the place of the Ark, & the cherubims covered the Ark & [its poles] above [them.] |
They brought the Ark of God out of the house of Abinadab, in Gibeah, & Ahio went [in front of] the Ark, & they [put] it upon a new cart. And Uzzah & Ahio, [Abinadab’s] sons, [accompanied] the Ark of God, & they [drove] the new cart, out [from] the house of Abinadab [in] Gibeah. |
David & all the house of Israel played all [types] of instruments made of fir, even on: harps, [zithers, tambourines,] cornets & on cymbals before the Lord. |
And When they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put [out] his hand [on] the Ark of God, & took hold of it; [because] the oxen [stumbled &] shook it. |
And the [Lord’s] anger [grew] against Uzzah; & God [struck him down] there for his [irreverent] error; & [Uzzah] died there by the Ark of God. |
And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach, [a.k.a. separation,] on Uzzah And [David] called the name of the place Perez-Uzzah, to this day. David was afraid of the Lord that day, & said, How shall the Ark of the Lord come to me? |
So, David wouldn’t [move] the Ark of the Lord into the city of David, to him, but David carried it aside into the house of Obed Edom, the Gittite. |
And the Ark of the Lord [stayed] in the house of Obed Edom [for] 3 months, & the Lord blessed Obed Edom, & all his household. And David was told, saying, The Lord [has] blessed the house of Obed Edom, & all [who pertain] to him, because of the Ark of God. |
So, David went & brought up the Ark of God from the house of Obed Edom, into the city of David with gladness. And it [happened, that [whenever those who carried] the Ark of the Lord, had gone 6 paces, [David] sacrificed oxen & [fattened calves.] |
And David was [clothed] with a linen ephod, & danced before the Lord with all his might. So, David & all the house of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with: shouting, & the sound of [trumpets.] |
As the Ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through the window, & saw king David leaping & dancing before the Lord; & she despised him in her heart. |
And they brought the Ark of the Lord in, & [put] it in [its] place, in the [middle] of the tabernacle, [a.k.a. tent church,] that David had pitched for it. And David offered burnt offerings & Peace Offerings before the Lord [God.] |
And as soon as David had [finished sacrificing the] burnt offerings & Peace Offerings, he blessed the people in the Name of the Lord of Hosts. |
[David distributed] to everyone: a cake of bread, a good piece of [meat,] & a [bottle] of wine, among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, to the women as well as men. So, all the people [left,] everyone to his [own] house. Then, David returned to bless his household. |
And Michal, Saul’s daughter, came out to meet David, & said, How glorious the king of Israel was today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of his [servant’s] handmaids, like one of the vain fellows, shamelessly [uncovers] himself! |
And David said to Michal, [I was dancing] before the Lord [God,] [Who] chose me [over] your father, & before all his house, & [appointed] me ruler over Israel, the people of the Lord. |
Therefore, I will play before the Lord. I will [still] be more [undignified] than [this] & will be basse, [a.k.a. humble,] in my own sight, & I shall be [held] in [honor,] by the maid servants, [that] you [have] spoken of. |
Therefore, Michal, Saul’s daughter, had no child [until] the day of her death. |
