Uzziah’s Son, Jotham, Ruled |
2 Chronicles 27:1-9 2 Chronicles in [Smaller Chunks] |
Jotham was 25 years old when he began to [rule] & he [ruled] 16 years in Jerusalem. Also, his mother’s name was Jerushah, [Zakok’s] daughter. [Jotham] did [what] was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all his father, Uzziah did. |
[However] he [didn’t] enter the temple of the Lord & the people [continued to act] corruptly. [Jotham rebuilt] the [Upper] Gate of the [Lord’s] house & he built much of the Wall of Ophel. |
Also, [Jotham] built cities in the mountains of Judah & castles, [a.k.a. fortresses] & towers [were] built in the forests. [Jotham] also fought with the [Ammonites’] king & prevailed against them. |
The same year, the children [people] of Ammon gave [Jotham] 100 talents of silver & 10,000 measures of wheat & 10,000 [measures] of barley. The [people] of Ammon [paid this amount to Jotham] both the 2nd year & the 3rd. |
So, Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God. Now, the rest of [Jotham’s actions,] all his wars & his ways, are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel & Judah. |
[Jotham] was 25 years old when he began to [rule] & [he ruled] 16 years in Jerusalem. And Jotham [died] & slept with his [forefathers] & they buried him in the city of David. And Ahaz, [Jotham’s] son, [ruled] in his [place.] |
