The Children David Fathered in Israel |
1 Chronicles 14:1-17 1 Chronicles in [Smaller Chunks] |
Now, Hiram, [a.k.a. Huram, Tyre's] king, sent messengers to David [with] cedar timber, masons & carpenters to build David a [palace.] David [realized] the Lord had [established] him [as] king over Israel, for his kingdom was [highly exalted,] because of His people Israel. |
David took more wives [in] Jerusalem & David [fathered] more sons & daughters. These are the names of his children, [that] he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, Ibhar, Elishua, El Palet, [a.k.a. Elpelet,] |
And Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Beeliada [a.k.a. Beehada] & Eliphalet, [a.k.a. Eliphelet.] And when the Philistines heard David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to [look for] David. |
David heard [about] it & went out against them. And the Philistines came & spread themselves [out & raided] in the Valley of Rephaim. David [inquired] of God, [asking,] Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into [my] hand? |
And the Lord said to him, Go up: for I will deliver them into your hand. So, the [Philistines] came up to Baal Perazim & David [defeated] them there. Then, David said, God has broken [out] upon [my] enemies by my hand, like the waters [break through.] |
Therefore, the place was called Baal Perazim. And when the [Philistines] had left their gods there, David gave a command & they were burned with fire. And [still] again, the Philistines spread themselves [around] in the valley. |
Therefore, David [inquired] again of God. And God said to [David, Don't] go up after them. Turn away from them & come upon them [in front of ] the mulberry trees. |
It shall be when you hear a sound going [through] the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle: for God has gone [out] before you to [strike] the [army] of the Philistines. |
Therefore, David did as God commanded him. They [defeated] the [Philistine army] from Gibeon, even to Gazer. And [David's] fame went out into all the lands. And the Lord brought the fear [respect] of [David] upon all nations. |
