The Heathen Worship a Tree They Cut Down & Made into an Idol

Jeremiah 10:1-25                               The Book of Jeremiah [in Smaller Chunks]

You, hear the Word [that] the Lord [speaks] to you, O house of Israel. The Lord [says this, Don't] learn the [ways] of the heathen, & [don't] be [discouraged] at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. [Deuteronomy 12:30-31 [Pay attention] to yourself, that you [aren't] snared, [a.k.a. trapped,] by following them, after they [are] destroyed from before you. And that you [don't inquire] after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? Even so, I will do [similarly.] Thou [shall] not do so, to the Lord your God. For every abomination to the Lord, [that] He [hates,] they have done to their gods. For they have even burnt their: sons, & daughters in the fire to their gods.]

For the customs [of] the people are vain. For [someone cuts] a tree out of the forest, the ax work of the [lumberman's] hands.They [decorate] it with: silver, & gold, & they fasten it with nails & hammers, [so] that it [doesn't] move. They are upright [like] the palm tree, but [don't] speak. They must be [carried,] because they can't [walk.] [Don't] be afraid of them; for they can't do evil, & also, neither is it in them to do good.

[Isaiah 45:20 Assemble yourselves together, come, & draw near together, you, [who have] escaped [from] the nations. They have no knowledge that set up the wood of their [carved] image, & pray to a god that can't save.]

[Since,] there [are] none [similar] to You, O Lord, You [are] great, & Your Name is great in [strength.] Who wouldn't fear, [a.k.a. respect,] You, O King of nations? [Since] it [doesn't pertain] to You, [for] there [are] none [similar] to You among all the wise men of the nations, & in all their kingdoms.

[Revelation 15:4 Who shall not fear, [a.k.a. respect,] You, O Lord, & glorify Your Name? For You only [are] holy. For all nations shall come, & worship before You. For Your judgments are made [visible.]

But they are altogether [ignorant,] & foolish. The [tree] [stumps are] a doctrine of vanities. [Isaiah 44:15 Then, it shall be for a man to burn. For he will take [some] [of it,] & [warms] himself. [Yes,] he [kindles, a.k.a. ignites,] it, & [bakes] bread. [Yes,] he [makes] a god, & [worships] it. He [makes] it a [carved] image, & [falls] down [to it there.]

Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, & gold from Uphaz, the work of the [artisan,] & the [blacksmith's] hands. [Isaiah 44:12 The [blacksmith] with the tongs, both: [works] in the coals, & [fashions] it with hammers, & [works] it with the strength of his arms. [Yes,] he is hungry, & his strength [fails.] He [hasn't] drunk any] water, & is faint.]

Their clothing is blue, & purple. They are all the work of [crafty] men. [Psalm 115:4-9 Their idols are silver & gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they [can't] speak. They have eyes, but they [can't] see. They have ears, but they [can't] hear. They have noses, but they [can't] smell. They have hands, but they [can't feel.] They have feet, but they [can't] walk. Neither [do] they speak through their throat. [Those who] make them are [similar] to them. So is everyone, [who] trusts in them. O Israel, you trust in the Lord. He is their help & their shield.]

But the Lord is the True God, & He is the Living God, & an everlasting King.  The earth shall tremble at His [fury.] And the nations shall not be able to [bear] His indignation, [a.k.a. anger aroused by injustice.] [Revelation 14:9-11 And the 3rd Angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man [worships] the beast & his image, & [receives] his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink [from] the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture, [a.k.a. not watered down,] into the cup of His indignation, [a.k.a. anger aroused by injustice.]

And he shall be tormented with fire & brimstone in the presence of the holy Angels, & in the presence of the Lamb.] And the smoke of their torment, [goes] up forever & ever. And [those who] worship the beast & his image, & [whoever receives] the mark of his name, [shall] have no rest day nor night.]

You shall say [this] to them, The gods that haven't made the heavens, & the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, & from under these heavens. [Psalm 96:5 For the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.]

He [has] made the earth by His power. He [has] established the world by His wisdom, & has stretched out the heavens [at] His discretion. [Genesis 1:1-3 In the beginning, God created the heaven & the earth. And the earth was without form, & void; & darkness was upon the [surface] of the deep. And the [Holy] Spirit of God moved upon the [surface] of the waters. And God said, Let there be light & there was light.]

When He [utters] His voice, there [are] a multitude of waters in the heavens. And He [causes] the vapors to [evaporate, &] ascend from the ends of the earth. He [makes lightning] with rain, & [brings forward] the wind out of His treasures. [Job 28:23-26 God [understands] the way [of it,] & He [knows its] place. For He [looks] to the ends of the earth, & [sees] under the whole heaven; to make the weight for the winds; & [weighs] the waters by measure, when He made a decree for the rain, & a way for [thunder's] lightning.]

Every man is [ignorant] in his knowledge. Every [blacksmith] is [confused] by the [carved] image: for his [molded] image is falsehood, & there is no breath in them. They are vanity, & the work of errors, & they shall perish in the time of their [punishment.] [Revelation 9:20-21 And the rest of the men, [who] weren't killed by these plagues, [still didn't repent, for] the works [made] [by] their hands, [so] that they shouldn't worship [demons,] & idols of: gold, silver, brass, stone, & wood, [that] can neither: see, hear, nor walk. Neither [did] they [repent] of their: murders, sorceries, fornication, nor of their thefts.]

The Portion of [Jacob's] [inheritance] isn't like them: for He is the [Maker] of all things. And Israel is the rod of His inheritance. The Lord of Hosts is His Name. [Lamentations 3:24-25 The Lord is my portion, [says] my soul. Therefore, I will hope in Him. The Lord is good to [those who] wait for Him, & to the soul [who seeks] Him.]

O inhabitant of the fortress, Gather up your [merchandise] out of the land. For the Lord [says this, Look,] I will sling the inhabitants out of the land at once, & will distress them, [so] that they may find it so. [Ezekiel 6:9-10 And [those who] escape of you shall remember Me among the nations [where] they shall be carried [captive,] because I am [shattered] by their [unfaithful] heart, [that has] departed from Me. And go after their idols, with their eyes, [like unfaithful harlots.] And they shall loathe themselves for the [evil] they have committed [through] all their abominations. And they shall know that I Am the Lord, & that I haven't said in vain that I would do this [calamity] to them.]

Woe is Me for My [injury!] My wound is grievous: but I said, Truly, this is a grief, & I must bear it. My tabernacle, [a.k.a. tent church, used until Solomon built a stationary house for the Lord God,] is [plundered,] & all My [tent] cords are broken. My children [have] gone [out from] Me, & they are [no longer.] There [are] none to stretch [out] My tent anymore, & to set up My curtains.

[Jeremiah 4:20 Destruction upon destruction is cried [out,] for the whole land is [plundered.] Suddenly, My tents, & My curtains are [plundered,] in a moment.]

For the pastors, [a.k.a. shepherds, have] become [ignorant,] & haven't sought the Lord. Therefore, they shall not prosper, & all their flocks shall be scattered. [Ezekiel 34:9-13 Therefore, O you shepherds, hear the Word of the Lord. The Lord God [says this; Watch,] I am against the shepherds. And I will [hold them responsible for] My flock, [that's] [under] their hand, [a.k.a. control,] & cause them to [stop] from feeding the flock. Neither shall the shepherds feed themselves anymore.

For I will deliver My flock from their mouth, [so] that they may not be meat for the [shepherds.] For the Lord God [says this; Look,] I, even I, will both search [for] My sheep, & seek them out. [Like] a shepherd [seeks] out his flock, [on] the day that he is among his sheep, [who] are scattered. [This way,] I will seek out My sheep, & will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered [on] the cloudy, & dark day. And I will bring them out, from the people, & gather them from the countries, & will bring them to their own land, & feed them by the rivers, upon the mountains of Israel, & in all the inhabited places of the country.]

[See,] the noise of the [report has] come, & a [large] commotion out of the North country, to make [Judah's] cities desolate, & a den of [jackals.] O Lord, I know that the [path] of man isn't [within] himself. It isn't in man, [who walks,] to direct his [own] steps. [Jeremiah 20:4 For the Lord [says this, Watch,] I will make you a terror to yourself, & to your friends. And they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, & your eyes shall [see] it. And I will give all Judah into the hand of [Babylon's] king, & he shall carry them captive into Babylon, & shall [kill] them with the sword.]

O Lord, correct me, but with judgment, [a.k.a. justice,] & not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing. Pour out Your fury upon the heathen, that [don't] know You, & upon the families [who don't] call on Your Name. For they have eaten up Jacob, [a.k.a. Israel,] & devoured, & consumed him & have made his habitation desolate.

[Psalm 53:3-4 Everyone of them, [has] gone [backward.] Altogether, they [have] become filthy, [a.k.a. corrupt,] & there [are] none [who does] good, no, not one. Have the [sinful] workers no knowledge? Who eat up my people, [like] they eat, [a.k.a. devour,] bread. They haven't called upon God.]
