The Year Tartan Came to Ashdod |
Isaiah 20:1-6 The Book of Isaiah [in Smaller Chunks] |
[During] the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, (when Sargon, [Assyria's] king, sent him,) & fought against Ashdod & [captured] it. At the same time, the Lord [spoke] by Isaiah, [Amoz'] son, saying, Go & [loosen] the sackcloth from off your [waist] & [take] off your [shoes] from your [feet.] And he did so, walking naked & barefoot. |
[Micah 1:6-8 Therefore, I will make Samaria [like] a [ruinous] heap [in] the field & [like] plantings of a vineyard. And I will pour down the stones [of it] into the valley & I will [reveal its] foundations. |
And all the [carved] images [of it,] shall be beaten to pieces & all the [gifts of unfaithfulness] of it shall be burned with fire. And I will [make] all the idols [of it a desolation,] for she gathered it [from] the hire [of being unfaithful like] a harlot & they shall return to the hire [like of an unfaithful] harlot. Therefore, I will wail & howl & I will go stripped & naked. I will make a wailing like the [jackals] & mourning [like] the owls.] |
And the Lord said, Like My servant, Isaiah, has walked naked & barefoot 3 years for a sign & a wonder upon Egypt & Ethiopia. [Isaiah 8:18-19 *[Look,] the children whom the Lord has given me & I are for signs & for wonders in Israel, from the Lord of Hosts, [Who] dwells in Mount Zion, [a.k.a. Jerusalem.] |
And when they shall say to you, seek to [those who] have familiar spirits, [a.k.a. Those who call up the dead] & to wizards that [whisper] & mutter, shouldn't a people seek to their God? For the Living [not] to the dead?] |
So shall [Assyria's] king, lead away the Egyptians prisoners & the Ethiopians captives: young & old, naked & barefoot, even with their [rear] uncovered, to the shame of Egypt. |
And they shall be afraid of Ethiopia, their [hope] & Egypt, their glory. And the [residents] of [these coastal islands] shall say [on] that day, [Look,] such [are the people we had hoped for.] [Where] shall we flee for help to be delivered from [Assyria's] king & how shall we escape? |
