The Lord God Appeared to Solomon a Second Time |
1 Kings 9:1-28 1 Kings [in Smaller Chunks] |
It [happened,] when Solomon had finished building the house of the Lord, & the king’s house, [a.k.a. palace,] & all Solomon’ desire [that] he was pleased to do, the Lord appeared to Solomon [a] 2nd time, [like God] had appeared to him [in] Gibeon. |
The Lord said to [Solomon,] I’ve heard your prayer & your [request] that you made before Me. I have hallowed, [a.k.a. consecrated,] this house, [a.k.a. temple, that] you [have] built, to put My Name there forever. And [My] eyes & [My] heart shall [continually] be there. |
And if you [will] walk, [a.k.a. follow,] before, Me [like] David, your father walked, [with an] [upright] heart in integrity, [doing] according to all that I’ve commanded you, & [if you] [will] keep My [mandates] & My judgments: |
Then, I will establish the throne of your kingdom [in] Israel forever, [like] I promised David, your father, saying, There shall not fail you [to be] a man on the throne of Israel. |
But if you or your children turn [away] at all, from following Me, & won’t keep My commandments & My [mandates that] I have [put] before you, but [you] go & serve other gods, & worship them: |
Then, I will cut off Israel [from] the land [that] I have given them; & I will cast [them,] & this [temple that] I have [consecrated] for My [Name’s] [sake,] out of My sight. And Israel shall be a proverb, [a.k.a. an old saying to clarify a truth,] & a byword, among all [the] people. [Psalm 69:12 [Those, who] sit in the gate, speak against me; & I was the song of the drunkards.] |
Everyone [who] passes by this [exalted] house [of the Lord,] shall [gasp,] & they shall say, Why [has] the Lord done [this] to: this land, & this [temple?] |
And they shall answer, Because [the Israelites forgot] the Lord their God, Who brought their [forefathers] out of the land of Egypt, & [they] have [embraced] other gods, & have worshiped, & served them, |
Therefore, the Lord [God,] [has] brought all this evil, [a.k.a. calamity,] upon them. And it [happened after] 20 years, when Solomon had built the 2 houses: the [Lord’s] house, & the king’s [palace.] |
(Now, Hiram, the king of Tyre, had furnished Solomon with [lumber from:] cedar & fir trees & all [the] gold [he desired.] Then, king Solomon gave Hiram, 20 cities in the land of Galilee. |
And Hiram came from Tyre to see the cities [that] Solomon had given him; & they [didn't please] him. And [Hiram] said, What [kind of] cities are these [that] you [have] given me, my brother? |
And [Hiram] called them the land of Cabul, [which is called this] [until] this day. Hiram sent king [Solomon] 120 talents of gold. And this is the reason king Solomon raised the levy; for [building] the [Lord’s] house, his own [palace,] Millo, & the Wall of Jerusalem, & [also:] Hazor, Megiddo, & Gezer. |
[1 Kings 5:13-14 And king Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel, & the levy was [for] 30,000 men. And he sent them to Lebanon, 10,000 a month by [shifts: 1] month they were in Lebanon, & 2 months at home. And Adoniram was over the levy.] |
For Pharaoh, king of Egypt, had gone up, & [captured & burned] Gezer with fire, & [struck down] the Canaanites [who lived] in the city, & [gave] it for a present to his daughter, Solomon’s wife. |
Solomon [rebuilt:] Gezer; lower BethHoron; Baalath; & Tadmor in the land [of] the wilderness. All [these storage] cities that Solomon had, & cities for: his chariots, & horsemen, & [what] Solomon desired to build in: Jerusalem, Lebanon, & in all the land of his [kingdom.] |
And all the [remaining] people of the: Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, & Jebusites, [who] weren't [from] the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Israel, & their children [who] were left after them in the land, whom the [people,] of Israel weren’t also able to [totally] destroy, Solomon [levied] upon those, a tribute of [bond servants] to this day. |
But Solomon [didn’t] make the [people] of Israel [bond servants,] but they were: men of war, his servants, his princes, his captains, & rulers of his chariots, & his horsemen. |
These were the [550] chief officers, [who] were: over Solomon’s work, & over the people [who did] the work. But Pharaoh’s daughter came up, out of the city of David, [a.k.a. Jerusalem,] [to go] to her house [that] Solomon had [built] for her. Then, [Solomon] built Millo. |
And 3 times a year, Solomon [offered] burnt offerings & Peace Offerings on the altar [that] he built to the Lord. And he [also] [burned] incense upon the altar that was before the Lord. So, [Solomon] finished the house. |
And king Solomon made a navy of ships in: Ezion Geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom. |
And Hiram sent [to] the navy, his servants, & [sailors, who] had knowledge of the sea, [to serve] with the servants of Solomon. And they came to Ophir, & [brought] from [there] 420 talents [of] gold, & brought it to king Solomon. |
