Ahab's 70 Sons are Killed |
2 Kings 10:1-36 2 Kings [in Smaller Chunks] |
Ahab had 70 sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote, & sent letters to the rulers of Jezreel, the elders, & to [the guardians who] brought up Ahab's children [in Samaria,] saying, You are [in] a fenced, [a.k.a. walled, or fortified,] city, & [have] there with you: [armor,] chariots, & horses. |
Now, as soon as this letter [comes] to you, [since] your master's sons are with you, [search for] the best & [strongest,] of your master's sons, & [put] him on his father's throne, & fight for your master's house. |
But they were [very] afraid, & said, [Look,] 2 kings [couldn't stand against Jehu,] then, how shall we stand [against him?] And the [officers] over: the house, the city, the elders, & [the children's guardians,] sent to Jehu, saying, We are your servants, & will do all that you [ask of] us. We won't make any king. Do [what] is good in your eyes. |
Then, [Jehu] wrote a letter to them a 2nd time, saying, If you [are] mine, & if you will [pay attention] to my voice, take [all] the heads of your master's sons, & come to Jezreel to me by this time tomorrow. Now, [king] [Ahab's] 70 sons were with [important] men [from] the city, [who] brought them up. |
And it [happened,] when the letter came to them, they took, & [killed] the 70 sons [of king Ahab,] & put their heads in baskets, & sent them to Jezreel. And a messenger came there, & told [Jehu,] saying, They have brought the heads of the king's sons. |
And [Jehu] said, You [are to] lay them in 2 [piles] at the [entrance] of the gate until morning. And in the morning it [happened,] that [Jehu] went out, & stood, & said to all the people, You [are innocent.] |
[Look,] I conspired against my master, & [killed] him, but who [killed] all these? [You should] know that [not a] Word the Lord, [that] the Lord [spoke against] the house of Ahab, shall fall to the [ground, a.k.a. will be left undone.] |
For the Lord has done [what] he [spoke] by His servant, Elijah. [1 Kings 21:24-26 [Males] of Ahab that die in the city, the dogs shall eat, & [males] that die in the field, the [birds] of the air [shall] eat. |
But there was none [similar] to Ahab, [who sold] himself to [do] wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel, his wife, stirred up. And [Ahab] did very abominably [by] following idols, according to all things [like the] Amorites did, whom the Lord [threw] out before the children, [a.k.a. people,] of Israel.] |
So, in Jezreel, Jehu [killed all who] remained of the house of Ahab, & all his: [important] men, [relatives,] & his priests, until none [were] left remaining. And [Jehu rose up, left, & went] to Samaria. |
[Since Jehu] was at the shearing-house [on] the way, Jehu met with the [relatives] of Ahaziah [Judah's] king, & said, Who are you? They answered, We are the [relatives] of Ahaziah, & we [are] [going] down to salute, [a.k.a. greet,] the children of the king & queen. |
And [Jehu] said, Take them alive. And they took 42 [of] them alive, & [killed] them at the pit of the shearing house, & he [didn't leave] any of them. When [Jehu left] [from] [there,] & he [came upon] Jehonadab, the son of [Rechab a.k.a Rekab,] [who was] coming to meet him. |
And [Jehu greeted] him, & said to him, Is your heart right, [a.k.a. as loyal to me,] as my heart is [with you?] And Johonadab answered, It is. [Jehu said,] If it [is,] give me your hand, & he gave [Jehu] his hand, & [Jehu] took [Jehonadab] up, into [his] chariot. |
And [Jehu] said, Come with me, & see my zeal for the Lord [God.] So, they made [Jehonadab] ride in [Jehu's] chariot. And when [Jehu] came to Samaria, he [killed] all [who] remained to Ahab in Samaria, [until] he had destroyed [them,] according to [what] the Lord [said] [when] He [spoke] to Elijah. |
And Jehu gathered all the people together, & said to them, Ahab served Baal a little, but Jehu shall serve him [a lot.] Therefore, now call to me all the prophets of Baal, all [Baal's] servants, & all his priests. |
Let none [who worship Baal] be [lacking, a.k.a. leftout:] for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal. [Whoever] [doesn't come,] shall not live. But Jehu did it [subtilly, a.k.a. secretly plotted,] that he might destroy the worshipers of Baal. |
And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it. And Jehu sent [throughout] all [of] Israel, & all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there wasn't a man left, [who didn't] come. |
And they [went] into the house of Baal; & it was full from 1 end to [the other.] And [Jehu] said to him [who] was [in charge] over the vestry, [a.k.a. meeting room,] Bring [out] [the] vestments for all the worshipers of Baal. And he brought [the] vestments [out.] |
And Jehu & Jehonadab, [Rechab’s] son, went into the house of Baal, & said to the worshipers of Baal, [Look & make sure] that there [are] none of the servants of the Lord [in] here with you, but only the worshipers of Baal. |
And when they went in to offer sacrifices & burnt offerings, Jehu appointed 80 men [outside,] & said, If [you let anyone] escape, whom I have brought into your hands, he, [who lets] him go, shall [give] his life, for the life of him, [who escapes.] |
And it [happened,] as soon as the burnt offering [ended,] that Jehu said to: the [guards] & the captains, Go in, & [kill] them; & let none come [out.] And they [struck them down] with the edge of the sword. And the: [guards,] & captains [threw their] [bodies] [outside.] |
And [they] went to the city of the house of Baal, & brought [out] [all] the images out of the house of Baal, & burned them. And they [broke] down the image of Baal, & [tore] down the house of Baal, & made it a [latrine] to this day. |
[So by this,] Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel. [However,] Jehu [didn't depart] from the sins of Jeroboam, [Nebat's] son, [who caused] Israel to sin, [that is:] the golden calves that were: in BethEl, & in Dan. |
And the Lord said to Jehu, Because you [have] done well in executing, [a.k.a. carrying out, what] is right in [My] eyes, & [you] [have] done to the house of Ahab, according to all that was in [My] heart, your children shall sit on the throne of Israel, [until] the 4th generation. |
But Jehu [didn't pay attention,] to walk, [a.k.a. follow,] in the Law of the Lord God of Israel with all his heart. For [Jehu didn't depart] from the sins of Jeroboam, [who caused] Israel to sin. [1 Kings 14:9-10 But [you] have done evil above all, [who] were before you. For you have gone, & made [yourself] other gods, & [molded] images, to provoke Me to anger, & have [thrown] Me behind your back. |
Therefore, [watch,] I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, & will cut off from Jeroboam [all males,] & [males, who are] shut up, & left in Israel, & will take away the [rest] of the house of Jeroboam, [like] a man takes away [feces, until it’s] all gone.] |
[During] those days, the Lord began to cut, [a.k.a. reduce,] [the size of] [Israel's territory.] And Hazael [struck down the Israelites] in all the coasts of Israel; from: [East] of [the] Jordan [River, & in] all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, Reubenites, & the Manassites, from Aroer, by the River Arnon, even [to] Gilead & Bashan. |
Now, aren't the rest of [Jehu's actions,] & all that he did, & all his [strength,] written in the Book of Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? And Jehu [died,] & slept with his [forefathers;] & they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz, his son, [ruled] in his [place.] And the time that Jehu [ruled] over Israel in Samaria was [for] 28 years. |
And I heard, but [didn't understand.] Then, I said, O my Lord, What shall be the end of these things? And He said, Go [on] your way, Daniel: for the Words are closed up and sealed till the time of the End. Daniel 12:8-9 KJV
About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible::
About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible: Since the Lord had it on my heart to write this blog, I was uncertain of how to accomplish this, mindful of Revelation 22:18-19, which says that nobody is to add to, or to take away from what was written in the Bible. After lots of prayerful contemplation, the Lord had it on my heart that I’m not to change the meaning of what is written in the Bible. He has also shown ways to add to people’s understating of that meaning, without altering the meaning, by putting that info within [brackets]. This is primarily accomplished with the KJV Bible and lots of prayers, but at times, BibleGateway.com, Biblehub.com, NIV Bible, Webster Dictionary, and other internet resources, as needed. About Understanding the Bible:
Understanding the Bible: After reading Isaiah 28:10 many times over the years and not totally understanding it, it recently became apparent to me that the Lord God has this passage as the means for understanding the Bible.
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little. Isaiah 28:10 KJV.
Being prayerful about this passage, and looking up 'precept' in the Webster's Dictionary, it gave this passage a whole new meaning, once 'commandment' is substituted for 'precept'. Within brackets are additional words the Lord had on my heart to aid in understanding the meaning.
For commandment must be [built up] upon commandment; commandment upon commandment; line upon line, line upon line; [developing understanding] here a little, and there a little.
The Table Format:
The Table Format: I was overwhelmed with how to explain the process for determining if someone had leprosy in Leviticus 13, which seemed very complicated. After praying, "Lord, if this is difficult for me to understand after reading it many times, how can this be explained to others?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was for me to put it into a vertical chart to visually see the process. This made it much easier for me to follow the progression. After doing so, I prayed, "Lord, how can this be conveyed to readers, so that they can understand this process?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was to put it within the lines of a table. Being a stiff-necked, stubborn person, as it's often called in the Bible, I prayed, asking the Lord God if He's sure that's really what He wanted me to do? I reluctantly put Leviticus 13 into a table format. When I read this difficult leprosy process within a table format, it suddenly became easier for me to understand. That's because it builds line upon line, as explained in the Understanding the Bible section. Shortly after that, the Lord God had it on my heart, to put all of The Books of the Bible in Smaller Chunks within a table format, to aid in understanding, line upon line.
