Manasseh's Doomed to Destruction for Their Witchcraft, Idols & Astrology |
2 Kings 21:1-26 2 Kings [in Smaller Chunks] |
Manasseh [a.k.a. Manesseh,] was 12 years old when he began to [rule] & he [ruled] 55 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hephzibah. |
[Manasseh] did [what] was evil in the sight of the Lord, after the abominations of the [pagan nations that worshiped false gods] whom the Lord [threw] out before the children [people] of Israel. |
[Manasseh] built up the high places [to worship idols,] that his father, Hezekiah, had destroyed. He [built] altars for Baal [a false god] & made a grove [for worshiping these idols, like] Ahab , [a former king,] did. |
[He] worshiped all the [stars] of heaven [astrology] & served them. [Manasseh,] built altars [to them] in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord said, I will put My name in Jerusalem. |
[Manasseh] built altars for all the [stars] of heaven in the 2 courts of the [Lord's] house. [Manasse] made his sons pass through the fire, [a pagan sacrificial ritual to false gods] & observed times, [horoscopes & astrology,] enchantments,[witchcraft] & [consulted mediums] & wizards. |
He [did] much wickedness in the sight of the Lord to [provoke] Him to anger. [Manasseh put] in the [Lord's] house an [engraved] image, [idol] [in] the grove that he made [at] the [Lord's] house, |
Which the Lord said to David & [to] his son, Solomon, In this house, in Jerusalem, [that] I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name [there] forever. |
Neither will I make the feet of [the Israelites] move any more out of the land which I gave their [forefathers,] only if they observe & do according to all I have commanded them & according to the Law, that My servant, Moses, commanded them. |
But they [didn't listen] & Manasseh, [enticed] them to do [even] more evil than the nations the Lord destroyed before the [people] of Israel. |
The Lord spoke by His prophets, saying, Because Manasseh, [Judah's] king, has done these abominations & has [even] done more wickedly [than] the Amorites did, [who] were before him, |
And [he] has also made Judah sin with his idols, [false gods:] Therefore, the Lord God of Israel said, [Look,] I am bringing [so much] disaster upon Jerusalem & Judah, that both the ears will tingle of [whoever] hears of it. |
I will stretch [a measuring line out] over Jerusalem & the [plumb line] of Samaria [used against Ahab's] house & I will wipe [out] Jerusalem, [like] a man wipes a dish, wiping it & turning it upside down. |
I will [abandon the rest] of My inheritance & deliver them into the hand of their enemies. They shall become prey & [plunder] to all their enemies, because they have done [what] was evil in My sight & have provoked Me to anger, since the day their [forefathers] came out of Egypt, even [until] this day. |
[Also,] Manasseh, shed the blood [of the] innocent, [so] much [that] he filled Jerusalem from 1 end to the [other.] [In addition to] all his sin, [where] he made Judah sin [by worshiping false gods,] in the sight of the Lord. |
[Aren't] the rest of [Manasseh's actions] & all he did & all his [many] sins written in the Book of Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? Mannaseh [died] & slept with his [forefathers] & was buried in the garden of Uzza, at his own house. |
Amon, his son, [ruled] in his [place]. Amon was 22 years old when he began to [rule] & he [ruled] 2 years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshullemeth, [Haruz'] daughter, [from] Jotbah. [Amon] dod [what] was evil in the sight of the Lord, [like] Manasseh, his father, did. |
[Amon followed] all the [ways] his father [followed] & served & worshiped the idols, [false gods] that his father served. Amon [abandoned] the Lord God of his [forefathers] & [didn't follow the ways] of the Lord. |
[Amon's] servants conspired against him & [killed] him in his own house. The people of the land, [killed] all [those who] conspired against king Amon. The people of the land made Josaiah, his son, king in his [place]. |
[Aren't] the rest of [Amon's actions that] he did, written in the Book of Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? [Amon] was buried in his [tomb] in the garden of Uzza & Josiah, his son, [ruled] in his place. |
