About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible::

About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible: I was uncertain of how to accomplish this, mindful of Revelation 22:18-19, which says that nobody is to add to, or to take away from what was written in the Bible. After lots of prayerful contemplation, the Lord had it on my heart that I’m not to change the meaning of what is written in the Bible. He has also shown ways to add to people’s understating of that meaning, without altering the meaning, by putting that info within [brackets]. This is primarily accomplished with the KJV Bible and lots of prayers, but at times, BibleGateway.com, Biblehub.com, NIV Bible, Webster Dictionary, and other internet resources, as needed. About Understanding the Bible:

Understanding the Bible: After reading Isaiah 28:10 many times over the years and not totally understanding it, it recently became apparent to me that the Lord God has this passage as the means for understanding the Bible. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little. Isaiah 28:10 KJV. Being prayerful about this passage, and looking up 'precept' in the Webster's Dictionary, it gave this passage a whole new meaning, once 'commandment' is substituted for 'precept'. Within brackets are additional words the Lord had on my heart to aid in understanding the meaning. For commandment must be [built up] upon commandment; commandment upon commandment; line upon line, line upon line; [developing understanding] here a little, and there a little.

The Table Format:

The Table Format: I was overwhelmed with how to explain the process for determining if someone had leprosy in Leviticus 13, which seemed very complicated. After praying, "Lord, if this is difficult for me to understand after reading it many times, how can this be explained to others?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was for me to put it into a vertical chart to visually see the process. This made it much easier for me to follow the progression. After doing so, I prayed, "Lord, how can this be conveyed to readers, so that they can understand this process?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was to put it within the lines of a table. Being a stiff-necked, stubborn person, as it's often called in the Bible, I prayed, asking the Lord God if He's sure that's really what He wanted me to do? I reluctantly put Leviticus 13 into a table format. When I read this difficult leprosy process within a table format, it suddenly became easier for me to understand. That's because it builds line upon line, as explained in the Understanding the Bible section. Shortly after that, the Lord God had it on my heart, to put all of The Books of the Bible in Smaller Chunks within a table format, to aid in understanding, line upon line.

Joshua 20:1-9 Appointing Cities of Refuge for Slayers Until They Stand Trial

Appointing Cities of Refuge for Slayers Until They Stand Trial

Joshua 20:1-9               The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks]

The Lord also [said] to Joshua, Speak to the children [people] of Israel, saying, Appoint cities of refuge for you, [like] I [spoke] to you, [at] the hand of Moses. [So] the slayer [person who kills someone accidentally] may flee [there.]

They shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. When [someone flees] to 1 of those cities, [he] shall stand at the gate of the [entrance] of the city & [shall state his case] in the ears of the [city’s] elders.

They shall take him into the city & give him a place, [so] he may [stay] among them. If the avenger of blood [pursues] after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer [over to him,] because he [accidentally] killed his neighbor & [hadn’t] hated him [beforehand.]

He shall [stay] in the city, until he [stands] before the congregation for judgment [or] until the death of the high priest [in charge, at the time.] Then the slayer may return to his own city [that he fled from] & [go to] his own house.

They appointed the [cities of:] Kedesh in Galilee in Mount Naphtali, Shechem in Mount Ephraim, Kirjath Arba, which is Hebron, in the [mountains] of Judah.

On the other side [of the] Jordan [River] by the [east of] Jericho, they assigned [the cities of:] Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain [from] the tribe of Reuben, & Ramoth in Gilead [from] the tribe of Gad & Golan in Bashan [from] the tribe of Manasseh.

These were the appointed cities for all the [people] of Israel & the stranger [who temporarily stays] among them. [So, whoever kills someone accidentally,] may flee [there] & not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he [stands] before the congregation.

Joshua 19:1-51 The Lots for the Inheritance of the Remaining Tribes of Israel

The Lots for the Inheritance of the Remaining Tribes of Israel

Joshua 19:1-51               The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks]

The 2nd lot came to the tribe of the children [people] of Simeon, according to their families. Their inheritance was within the [people of Judah’s] inheritance. In their inheritance, they had Beer Sheba, or Sheba, Moladah, Hazar Shual,

Balah, Azem, Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah, Ziklag, Beth Marcaboth, Hazar Susah, Beth Lebaoth & Sharuhen; 13 cities & their villages. [And] Ain, Remmon, Ether & Ashan; 4 cities & their villages.

All the villages that were [around] these cities to Baalath Beer & Ramath [on] the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the [people] of Simeon, according to their families.

The inheritance of the [people] of Simeon [was taken] out of the [people] of [Judah’s] portion, [because their inheritance was too large] for the [people] of Judah.

Therefore, the inheritance [for the people] of Simeon [was] within [the territory] of the [people of Judah.] The 3rd lot came up for the [people] of Zebulun, according to their families.

The border of their inheritance was [all the way] to Sarid & their border went up [westward] toward the sea [& on to] Maralah & reached to Dabbasheth & reached the river before Jokneam.

It turned from Sarid eastward to the border of Chisloth Tabor & went out to Daberath & up to Japhia. [From there] it went east to Gittah Hepher, to Ittah Kazin & [it came] out [at] Remmon Methoar [a.k.a. Rimmon] & [curved toward] Neah.

The border [circled] on the northside to Hannathon & [ended] in the Valley of Jiphthah El [a.k.a. Iphtah El.] And Kattath, Nahallal, Shimron, Idalah & Bethlehem; 12 cities & their villages. This is the inheritance [for] the children [people] of Zebulun, according to their families, these cities & their villages.

The 4th lot came out [for] the [people] of Issachar, according to their families. Their border was toward Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem, Haphraim [a.k.a. Hapharaim,] Shihon, Anaharath, Rabbith, Kishion, Abez, Remeth, En-Gannim,

En-Haddah & Beth Pazzez. [The coastal boundary] reached to Tabor, Shahazimah, Beth Shemesh & the border [ended] at [the] Jordan [River]: 16 cities & their villages. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the [people] of Issachar, according to their families, the cities & their villages.

The 5th lot came out for the tribe of the [people] of Asher, according to their families. Their border was Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph, Alammelech, Amad & Misheal & reached to Carmel westward & [on] to Shihor Libnath.

[The border] turned toward the [east] to Beth-Dagon & reached to [Zebulun’s land] & to the Valley of Jiphthah El [a.k.a. Iphtah El,] toward the north side of Beth-Emek & Niel & [passes] Cabul [a.k.a. Kabul] on the left [side] & [went on to] Hebron, Rehob, Hammon, Kanah, even to [Greater] Zidon [a.k.a. Sidon.]

Then the coast turns to Ramah & to the strong city [of] Tyre & the [coastal border] turns to Hosah & [comes out] at the [Mediterranean Sea] from the coast to Achzib [a.k.a. Akzib.] Also, Ummah, Aphek & Rehob: 22 cities & their villages.

This is the inheritance of the [people] of Asher, according to their families & these [are their] cities & their villages. The 6th lot came out [for] the [people] of Naptali, according to their families.

Their [coastal border] was from Heleph & from Allon to Zaanannim, Adami, Nekeb, Jabneel to Lakum & it [ended at [the] Jordan [River.] Then the [coastal boundary] turned westward to Aznoth Tabor & goes out from [there] to Hukkok

and reaches to Zebulun on the south side & reaches to Asher on the west side & to Judah [on the east side, at the] Jordan River. The fenced cities are Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth, Adamah, Ramah, Hazor, Kedesh, Edrei, En Hazor, Iron, Migdal El, Horem, Beth Anath, & Beth Shemesh; 19 cities & their villages.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children [people] of Naphtali, according to their families, cities & their villages. The 7th lot came out for the tribe of the children [people] of Dan, according to their families.

The [coastal boundary] of their inheritance was: Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh, Shaalabbin, Ajalon, Jethlah, Elon, Thimnathah, Ekron, Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath, Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon, Me Jarkon, Rakkon, with the border [near] Japhon [a.k.a. Joppa.]

The [coastal border] of the children [people] of Dan was too [small to hold all of] them: therefore the [people] of Dan went up to fight against [the] Leshem & [captured] it & [struck] it with the edge of the sword & [took] possession of it & [lived there] & called Leschem, Dan, after the name of Dan their [forefather.]

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children [people] of Dan, according to their families, these cities & their villages. When they [finished] dividing the land for an inheritance by their [coastal borders,] the [people] of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua, [Nun’s] son, among them.

They gave Joshua, the city [that] he had asked [for,] Timnath Serah, in Mount Ephraim, according to the Word of the Lord & [Joshua rebuilt] the city & [lived] in it.

These are the inheritances [that] Eleazar, the priest, Joshua, [Nun’s] son & the [leaders] of the [forefathers’] tribes of the children [people] of Israel, divided for an inheritance by lot [while in] Shiloh, before the Lord, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. So they [finished] dividing the country.

Joshua 18:1-28 Surveying the Remaining Land & the Inheritance of Benjamin

Surveying the Remaining Land & the Inheritance of Benjamin

Joshua 18:1-28               The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks]

The whole congregation of the children [people] of Israel assembled together at Shiloh & [put] up the tabernacle of the congregation there. The land was [under the control of the Israelites.]

There remained 7 of the [Israelite] tribes [that] hadn’t received their inheritance yet. Joshua said to the children [people] of Israel, How long are you [going to wait] to possess the land, [that] the Lord God of your [forefathers] has given [to] you?

[Take] out 3 men [from each tribe] & they shall go through the land & describe it [for an] inheritance [for] them & they shall [return] to me. They shall divide [the land] into 7 parts.

Judah shall [live within] their coast on the south & the house of Joseph shall [live within] their coasts [in] the north. You shall bring me the description of the 7 [portions] of the land, [so] that I may cast lots for you here before the Lord our God.

But the Levites have no [inheritance of land] among you; for the priesthood of the Lord is their inheritance. [Also,] Gad, Reuben & 1/2 of the tribe of Manasseh, have [already] received their inheritance beyond [the] Jordan [River] on the east, [that] Moses, the servant of the Lord, gave [to] them.

The [selected] men arose & went away. Joshua had [instructed those who] went to [survey &] describe the land, saying, Go, walk through the land & describe it & [return] to me, [so] I may cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh.

The men went & passed through the land & described it in a book by [its] cities [in 7 portions] & [returned] to Joshua again & the [army] at Shiloh. Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the Lord.

Joshua divided the land there to the [remaining people] of Israel, according to their divisions. The lot of the [people] of the tribe of Benjamin, came up according to their families & their [coastal borders fell] between the [people] of Judah & the [people] of Joseph.

The border on the north was from [the] Jordan [River] & went up to the north side of Jericho & went through the mountains westward & [its end] was [in] the Wilderness of Beth Aven.

The border went from [there] toward the side of Luz, which is Bethel, southward. The border [went down] to Ataroth Adar, near the hill that lies on the south side of [Lower] Beth Horon.

The [west side of the] border was drawn [from there] & [curved by] the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that [faces] Beth Horon [on the south] & [ends] at Kirjath Baal, which is Kirjath Jearim, a city of the [people] of Judah.

This was their [boundary on the western side.] And [on] the south [side, the border] was from [far end of] Kirjath Jearim [a.k.a. Kiriath Jearim & went] west to the [springs] of the Waters of Nephtoah.

The border went down to the [border] of the mountain [that lies in front of] the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which is in the Valley of the Giants [in] the north [a.k.a. The Valley of Rephaim.]

[The border went down] to the Valley of Hinnom [to the southern slope of the Jebusites] & [went down] to En Rogel. From the north, [the border] was drawn & [curved &] went to En Shemesh & went [on] toward Geliloth, which is over [across from] the [Ascent of] Adummim & [went down] to the Stone of Bohan, [Reuben’s] son.

[The border went] toward the [northern] side of Arabah [a.k.a. Beth-Arabah] & down into Arabah. The border [continued] to [the north] side of Beth Hoglah & [came out] at the north bay of the Salt Sea [a.k.a. The Dead Sea, which is] at the [southern end of the] Jordan [River] & this was their southern [coastal border.]

[The] Jordan [River] was [its] border on the east side. This was the inheritance of the [people] of Benjamin, by [its coastal borders around their inheritance,] according to their families.

These are the cities of the tribe of the [people] of Benjamin, according to their families: Jericho, Beth Hoglah & the Valley of Keziz, Beth Arabah, Zemaraim, Beth El, Avim, Parah, Ophrah, Chephar Haammonai, Ophni & Gaba; 12 cities & their villages.

Gibeon, Ramah, Beeroth, Mizpeh, Chephirah, Morah, Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah, Zelah, Eleph, Jebusi, which is Jerusalem, Gibeath & Kirjath; 14 cities & their villages. This is the inheritance of the [people] of Benjamin, according to their families.

Joshua 17:1-18 The Inheritances of the Tribe of Manasseh

The Inheritances of the Tribe of Manasseh

Joshua 17:1-18               The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks]

Also, there was a lot [for the 1st 1/2 of the inheritance of land given] for the [½] tribe of Manasseh. [Manasseh] was [Joseph’s] firstborn & Machir was [Manasseh’s] firstborn. Machir was the father of [people of] Gilead: because he was a man of war. Therefore, he had. Gilead & Bashan.

[Numbers 32:33 And Moses gave to them, even to the children of Gad, to the children of Reuben & to the 1⁄2 tribe of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon, the. [Amorite’s] king, & the kingdom of Og, [Bashan’s] king, the land & [its coastal] cities of the country [around it.]

Also, there was a lot for the [other 1/2 of] the children of Manasseh, by their families. [For the families &] children of: Abiezer, Helek, Asriel Shechem, Hepher & Shemida. These were [Joseph’s] son, [Manasseh’s,] male children, by their families.

But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, [who was] the son of Gilead, [that was] the son of Machir, [Manasseh’s] son. [Zelophehad, didn’t have any sons, but only] daughters. These are his [daughter’s] names: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah & Tirzah.

They came before Eleazar, the priest, & Joshua, [Nun’s] son & the [leaders,] saying, The Lord commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our [relatives.]

Therefore, according to the [Lord’s command, Joshua] gave them an inheritance among the [relatives] of their father. Manasseh [received] 10 portions [of land in addition to] the land [in] Gilead & Bashan, which are on the other side [of] Jordan.

[Since,] the daughters of the [tribe of] Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons, [then] the land of Gilead [belonged to] the rest of Manasseh’s sons. [The coastal border] was from Asher to Michmethah, [that] lies [east in front of] Shechem.

The border went along [to the south & included the] inhabitants of En-tappuah. The land of Tappuah belonged to [the tribe of] Manasseh, but [actually Tappuah itself was located on the border of Manasseh] & belonged to [the tribe &] children of Ephraim.

The [coastal boundary went down to] the River of Kanah, south of the river. There were cities [belonging to] Ephraim among the cities of Manasseh, but [Manasseh’s] border was on the north side of the river & [ended at the Mediterranean Sea.]

[To the] south, it was Ephraim’s & [to the] north, it was Manasseh’s & the [Mediterranean Sea was its] border. They met together in [Asher’s land] on the north & in the east in [Issachar’s land.]

In [Issachar’s land] & [Asher’s land,] Manasseh had: Beth Shean & [its] towns, Ibleam & [its] towns & the inhabitants of: Dor & [its] towns, Endor & [its] towns, Taanach & [its] towns & Megiddo & [its] towns, [which were within the] 3 countries.

[Still] the children [people] of Manasseh couldn’t drive out the [Canaanite] inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites [continued to live] in that land. It [happened,] when the [people] of Israel [had grown] strong, they put the Canaanites to [forced labor,] but didn’t [totally] drive them out.

The [people] of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, Why have you [only] given me 1 lot & 1 portion [of land] to inherit, [since] I [have a large amount of] people, [since] the Lord has [abundantly] blessed me.

Joshua answered them, If you [have a large amount of] people, then [go] up to the [forest] & cut down [& clear the land] for yourself there, in the land of the Perizzites & of the giants, if Mount Ephraim [is] too [small] for you.

The children [people] of Joseph said, The hill [country] is not enough for us & all the Canaanites [who] live in the valley have iron chariots, both [those] of Beth Shean & [its] towns & [those] who [live in] the Valley of Jezreel.

Joshua [spoke] to the [people] of Joseph, even to: Ephraim & Manasseh, saying, You have [many] people & [are very powerful.] You shall not only have 1 lot, but the mountain shall be yours.

For it is a [forest] & you shall cut it down & [what comes out] of it will be yours.  For you shall drive out the Canaanites, [even though] they have iron chariots & though they [are] strong.

Joshua 16:1-10 The Inheritance of the Tribe of Ephraim

The Inheritance of the Tribe of Ephraim

Joshua 16:1-10               The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks]

The lot [for] the children [people] of Joseph fell from Jordan, by Jericho, to the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goes up from Jericho throughout Mount Bethel.

[The border] goes from Bethel to Luz & passes to the borders of Archi to Ataroth. [The border] goes down to the west of the coast of Japhleti. [Their coastal border goes as far as] the coast of [Lower] Beth Horon & [on] to Gezer & [ends at the Mediterranean Sea.]

So, Manasseh & Ephraim, the children of Joseph, took their inheritance [of land.] The [boundaries] of the [people] of Ephraim, according to their families, was [this:] even the border of their inheritance on the east side [went from] Ataroth Addar, to Upper Beth Horon.

The border went out toward the [Mediterranean Sea] to Michmetha on the north [& from it curved] eastward [past] Taanath Shiloh to the east of Janohah.

[The border] went down from Janohah to Ataroth & then [on] to Naarath & [reached] to Jericho & ended at [the] Jordan [River.] The border went out from Tappuah [west] to the River Kanah & [ended] at the [Mediterranean Sea.]

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children [people] of Ephraim, by their families. The [separated] cities & their villages for the [people] of Ephraim, [were within the land of Manasseh’s] inheritance.

They [didn’t drive] out the Canaanites [who] dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites [live] among the Ephraimites to this day, [but they serve as forced laborers.]

The Land Judah Inherited

Joshua 15:1-63               The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks]

[Next,] this [was] the lot [for] the tribe, of the children [people] of Judah, by their tribe of the children [people] of Judah, even to the [border] of Edom, [to] the Wilderness of Zin [at] the [very furthest southern coast.]

Their border [in the] south was from the shore of the Salt Sea [a.k.a. The Dead Sea,] from the bay that [faces south.] It went out to the south side to Maaleh Akrabbim [a.k.a. Scorpion Pass] & passed along to Zin & [went up] on the south side to Kadesh Barnea.

[It] passed along to Hezron & went up to Adar [curved toward] Karkaa. From [there] it passed toward Azmon & went out to the River of Egypt & [ended] at the [Mediterranean Sea.]

The border [continues on along the coastal] waters of En Shemesh & [comes out at] Enrogel. The border went up by the Valley of the Son of Hinnom [along] the south side of the [Jebusites, which] is Jerusalem.

The border went to the top of the mountain that lies [in front of] the Valley of Hinnom, [on the west, which is at the [northern] end of the Valley of Giants [a.k.a. the Valley of Rephaim.] The border was drawn from the top of the hill to the fountain of the Waters of Nephtoah & went [toward] the cities of Mount Ephron.

The border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath Jearim. The border [curved] westward from Baalah to Mount Seir & passed along the [northern] side of Mount Jearim, which is Chesalon.

[The border] went down to Beth Shemesh & went [on] to Timnah. The border went out to the [northern] side of Ekron & [curved toward] Shicron [a.k.a. Shikkeron.]

It passed along Mount Baalah & went out to Jabneel & [ended at the Mediterranean Sea.] The [western coastal] border was the [Mediterranean Sea.] These are the [borders around the tribes of] the children [people] of Judah, according to their families.

According to the [Lord’s command] to Joshua, he gave Caleb, [Jephunneh’s] son, a [portion of land] among the [people] of Judah, the city Arba, [who was] the father of Anak, which is [the] city of Hebron [a.k.a. Kiriath Arba and Kirjath Arba.] Caleb drove [out] from there] the 3 sons of Anak: Shishak, Ahriman & Talmadge, the children of Anak.

And [Caleb] went up [there] to the inhabitants of Debir [which had previously been named Kirjath Sepher and also Kiriath Sepher.] Caleb said, I will give my daughter, Achsah, [to marry] the [person who attacks & captures] Kirjath Sepher.

Othniel, [Kenaz’] son, [who also] was [Caleb’s] brother, [captured] it & [Caleb] gave [Othniel] his daughter, Achsah, [to marry.]  She [urged Othniel] to ask her father [for] a field. She [jumped] off her [mule] & Caleb [asked] her, What [do you want?]

[She] answered, Give me a blessing: for you have given me [southern desert] land. [Also] give me springs of water. [Caleb] gave her [both] the upper & [lower] springs.

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the [people] of Judah, according to their families. [The furthest southern desert] cities toward the coast of Edom, were: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur, Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah, Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan, Ziph, Telem,

Joshua 14:1-15 The Distribution of the Land in Canaan & Caleb’s Request

The Distribution of the Land in Canaan & Caleb’s Request

Joshua 14:1-15               The Book of Joshua [in Smaller Chunks]

These are the countries [that] the children [people] of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, [that] Eleazar, the priest, & Joshua [Nun’s] son & [leaders] of the [forefathers'] tribes of Israel, distributed to them for an inheritance.

Their inheritance was [assigned] by lot, as the Lord commanded [at] the hand of Moses for the 91/2 [tribes.] On the other side [of the] Jordan [River,] Moses had [already] given the inheritance of the 2 ½ tribes.  For the children of Joseph were 2 tribes: Manasseh & Ephraim.

Therefore, they [didn’t give] an inheritance [of land] to the Levites in the land [of the Canaanites,] [except for] the cities [for the Levites to live in] & suburbs for their [livestock] & [possessions.] The children [people] of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses & divided the land. The [people] of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal.

And Caleb, [Jephunneh’s] son, the Kenezite, said to [Joshua,] You know [what] the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, [about] you & me in Kadesh Barnea. I was 40 years old when Moses, the [Lord’s] servant, sent me to [spy] out the land & I brought him [back] word again, as it was in my heart.

[Still] my brethren [who] went up with me,made the [hearts] of the people melt: but I [totally] followed the Lord, my God. [Numbers 13:31-32 But the men [who] went up with him said, We [aren’t] able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we [are.]

And they brought up an evil report to the children [people] of Israel [about] the land [that] they had searched, saying, The land we have gone to search through, is a land that eats up [its] inhabitants. And all the people we saw in it are [extremely tall] men.]

Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land [you have walked on with] your feet shall be your & your children’s inheritance forever, because you have [totally] followed the Lord my God.

Now [look,] the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these 45 years, [ever] since the Lord spoke these [words] to Moses, while the children [people] of Israel wandered in the wilderness.

Now [look,] this day, I am now 85 years old. [Still,] I am as strong [today] as I was [on] the day that Moses sent me. My strength is now as [it] was then, for both [going] out to war & [coming in again.]

Therefore, give me now this mountain, the Lord [spoke of] that day; for you heard that day how the Anakims [giants] were there & the cities were [tall] & fenced.

If the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive [the Anakims] out, as the Lord said. And Joshua blessed him & gave to Caleb, [Jephunneh’s] son, Hebron for [his] inheritance. Therefore, Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb, [Jephunneh’s] son, the Kenezite, to this day, because he [totally] followed the Lord God of Israel.

The name of Hebron [was previously] Kirjath Arba [a.k.a. Kiriath Arba; since]  Arba was a great man among the Anakims. The land [had peace &] rest from war.
