About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible::

About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible: I was uncertain of how to accomplish this, mindful of Revelation 22:18-19, which says that nobody is to add to, or to take away from what was written in the Bible. After lots of prayerful contemplation, the Lord had it on my heart that I’m not to change the meaning of what is written in the Bible. He has also shown ways to add to people’s understating of that meaning, without altering the meaning, by putting that info within [brackets]. This is primarily accomplished with the KJV Bible and lots of prayers, but at times, BibleGateway.com, Biblehub.com, NIV Bible, Webster Dictionary, and other internet resources, as needed. About Understanding the Bible:

Understanding the Bible: After reading Isaiah 28:10 many times over the years and not totally understanding it, it recently became apparent to me that the Lord God has this passage as the means for understanding the Bible. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little. Isaiah 28:10 KJV. Being prayerful about this passage, and looking up 'precept' in the Webster's Dictionary, it gave this passage a whole new meaning, once 'commandment' is substituted for 'precept'. Within brackets are additional words the Lord had on my heart to aid in understanding the meaning. For commandment must be [built up] upon commandment; commandment upon commandment; line upon line, line upon line; [developing understanding] here a little, and there a little.

The Table Format:

The Table Format: I was overwhelmed with how to explain the process for determining if someone had leprosy in Leviticus 13, which seemed very complicated. After praying, "Lord, if this is difficult for me to understand after reading it many times, how can this be explained to others?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was for me to put it into a vertical chart to visually see the process. This made it much easier for me to follow the progression. After doing so, I prayed, "Lord, how can this be conveyed to readers, so that they can understand this process?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was to put it within the lines of a table. Being a stiff-necked, stubborn person, as it's often called in the Bible, I prayed, asking the Lord God if He's sure that's really what He wanted me to do? I reluctantly put Leviticus 13 into a table format. When I read this difficult leprosy process within a table format, it suddenly became easier for me to understand. That's because it builds line upon line, as explained in the Understanding the Bible section. Shortly after that, the Lord God had it on my heart, to put all of The Books of the Bible in Smaller Chunks within a table format, to aid in understanding, line upon line.

1 Kings 7:1-51 Other Things Solomon had Built

Other Things Solomon had Built

1 Kings 7:1-51                               1 Kings [in Smaller Chunks]

Solomon [was also] building his own [palace for] 13 years & he finished his house. He also built the [Palace] of the Forest of Lebanon. The length was 100 cubits & the [width] 50 cubits & the height 30 cubits. [It] was upon 4 rows of cedar pillars [a.k.a. columns], with cedar beams upon the pillars.

It was covered with cedar [roofing] on the 45 pillars,15 in a row. There were windows [grouped together] in 3 rows & [the] light [was opposite] the light of the [other windows] in the 3 [rows].

All posts were square [for] the [doorways], with the windows & [the] light [was opposite] the light of the [other windows] in the 3 [rows]. He made a [colonnade of pillars supporting the roof]. The length was 50 cubits & the [width] 30 cubits.

The porch [portico with] pillars was [in front of] them & the [canopy] & the other pillars were [in front of all of] them. Then [Solomon] made a [hall] for the throne, the [Hall of Justice,] where he [would] judge.

It was covered with cedar from the floor to the [ceiling]. His [palace] where he [lived] had another court [inside] the [hall, that had similar workmanship]. Solomon also made a [palace] like this [hall] for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he [had married].

All of these [inside & outside] were [made] of costly stones [cut] with saws, even from the foundation to the [roof] & on the outside toward the [large] court. The foundation was of costly [large] stones [of 8 to 10 cubits].

Above were costly stones with [similar measurements to the cut] stones & cedar [beams]. The [large] court around it [had] 3 rows of [cut] stones & a row of cedar beams. [These were] both for the inner court of the [Lord’s] house & for [its] porch.

King Solomon sent & had Hiram [brought from] Tyre. [Hiram] was a widow’s son of the tribe of Naphtali. His father was a man of Tyre, [who] was filled with wisdom & understanding & [did] skillful, creative] work in brass.

He came to Solomon & [did] all his work [requested of him]. He cast 2 pillars [each] 18 cubits high of brass & each was 12 cubits [around them]. He made 2 [capitals] of [molded] brass to [put] on the tops of the pillars.

The height of [each capital] was 5 cubits. [He made decorative netting] & wreaths of chains, 7 [for each of the 2 capitals on top of the 2] pillars. [Also, for each of the] pillars, he made 2 rows of pomegranates on the [netting,] to cover [around] the [tops of the capitals].

[On] the porch, [each of the capitals had] 4 cubits of lily work upon the top of the pillars. [On the capitals of the] 2 pillars, above [the bowl-shaped portion near the netting, had] 200 pomegranates in rows [around each of the capitals].

He [put] up the pillars in the porch of the temple & he put  up the right pillar & called [its] name, Jachin. He [put] up the left pillar & called [it] Boaz. On the top of the pillars was lily work. The work of the pillars [was] finished.

He made a [molded brass] sea, 10 cubits from 1 [end] to the other. It was [circular] & [its] height was 5 cubits [with a] 30 cubit [circumference around] it. Under [the rim of the circular brass sea], there were [decorative gourds cast,] 10 to a cubit in 2 rows to go around it.

[The circular brass sea] stood upon 12 [brass] oxen. 3 [of the brass oxen faced] north, 3 [of the brass oxen faced] west, 3 [of the brass oxen faced] south &  3 [of the brass oxen faced] east.

[The circular brass sea was placed upon the oxen & all their tails were inside facing the middle]. [The brass sea was] a hand breadth thick [Nave’s Topical Bible said it’s approximately 4 inches] & the [rim] of it was [made] like the [rim] of a cup, with flowers & lilies.

It contained 2,000 baths [ChristianAnswers.net said that this is approximately 12,000 gallons]. He made 10 [ movable stands] of brass [each] 4 cubits long & 4 cubits [wide] & 3 cubits [high].

The [stands were made with panels that were] between the ledges [of the upright frame]. The [carved panels] between the ledges [had] lions, oxen, & [cherubs].

There was a [pedestal] above & [below] the lions & oxen, [some decorative] additions were made of thin [hammered] work. [Each of the movable stands] had 4 [brass] wheels & brass [axles].

The 4 corner [molded supports on each side] under the [basin, were by the decorative] additions. [Each stand had circular molding around & above the basin that was] 1 cubit [high].

[Its opening was circular like the basin & was] 1 1/2 cubits [deep & had engravings]. [Its panels were 4 sided,] not round. Under [the panels] were 4 wheels [of] 1 1/2  cubits & axles [that] were joined to the [stand].

[Its] wheels were [like] chariot wheels & [its axles, rims, spokes & hubs] were [molded of metal].There were 4 [protruding handles at each of] the 4 corners of the [stand].

[At] the top of the [stand] there [was] a round [rim] 1/2 cubit high & [its ledges, framework & panels] were [1 piece with it]. On the [panels,] he [carved cherubs,] lions & palm trees [spaced evenly around it].

[All] 10 [movable stands were cast with the same molds & had the same measurement] & size]. Then, he made 10 brass [basins]. [Each basin] was 4 cubits high & [held] 40 baths. [UnitConverters.net said they held approximately 232 gallons].

He put 5 [movable stands] on the [south] side of the [temple] & 5 on the [north] side. He [put] the [brass] sea [in the southeast corner of the temple]. Hiram made the [washbasins, shovels & bowls] & [finished] all the work that he made [for] king Solomon for the [Lord’s] house:

the 2 pillars; 2 [capitals for] the top of the 2 pillars; 2 [sets of decorative netting to cover the 2 capitals] on top of the 2 pillars; 400 pomegranates for the 2 [sets of decorative netting to cover the 2 capitals] on top of the 2 pillars;

10 [movable stands] & 10 [basins for the stands]; [wash basins, shovels & bowls] & all these bright brass [things] Hiram made [for] king Solomon for the [Lord’s temple].

The king [had them molded] & cast in clay [from the] ground in the Plain of Jordan, between Succoth & Zarthan. Solomon [didn’t weigh all the brass objects Hiram made,] because there were [too] many.

Neither was the weight of the brass [used for these] found out. Solomon [had] all the vessels made that pertained to the house of the Lord: the gold altar; the gold table [that the sacred loaves of bread were placed on;]

The pure gold candlesticks, 5 on the right side & 5 on the left, [in front of the inner sanctuary]; [along] with the flowers, lamps and tongs of gold, the bowls, [candle] snuffers, [basins,] spoons & censers [for incense] of pure gold

& gold hinges for both the doors of the inner [portion of the] house, the Most Holy Place & for the doors of the [Lord’s] house, [namely] the temple. All the work that king Solomon [had] made for the house of the Lord [had] ended.

And Solomon brought in the things [that] David, his father, had dedicated, [including] the silver, gold & the [other precious objects that] he put among the treasures of the [Lord’s] house.

1 Kings 6:1-38 Starting the Building of the Temple for the Lord God

Starting the Building of the Temple for the Lord God

1 Kings 6:1-38                               1 Kings [in Smaller Chunks]

It [happened] in the 408th year after the children [people] of Israel came out of the land of Egypt, in the 4th year Solomon [ruled] over Israel, in the month of Zif, which is the 2nd month, that [king Solomon] began to build the house [temple] of the Lord.

The length was 60 cubits & the [width] was 20 cubits & [its] height [was] 30 cubits. The [entrance hall in the front of the Lord’s house] was 20 cubits long & [10 cubits wide] according to the [width] of the [temple].

He made narrow windows [for] light. He built [side rooms around it] against the walls of both the temple & the [inner sanctuary]. The [1st room] was 5 cubits [wide]. The middle [room] was 6 cubits [wide] & the 3rd was 7 cubits [wide].

For on the [outside of] the wall, he made [narrow ledges around it, so its] beams wouldn’t be fastened [to] the walls of the house. The [temple] was built of stone [that was prepared] before it was brought [there,] so there wasn’t [a] hammer, ax, [or ] any iron tool heard in the [temple] while it was [being built].

The door for the middle [floor] was [on] the right side of the [temple] & they went up with winding stairs into the middle [floor] & out [from there] into the 3rd [floor].

[Solomon] built the [temple] & finished it & [roofed] the [temple] with cedar beams & boards. Then, he built [the side rooms] all against the [side of the temple,] 5 cubits high.

[They used] cedar [beams to attach the rooms to the temple]. The word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying, [About] this [temple] you are building, if you will walk in My [laws, deliver] My [justice,] keep My commandments & [follow] them, then I, will [establish] My promise with you, [that] I spoke to David, your father.

I will [live] among the children [people] of Israel & will not [abandon] My people, Israel. So, Solomon built the [temple] & finished it. He built the walls of the house [inside], with cedar [boards from] the floors [to] the ceiling.

[He] covered the floor of the [temple] with planks of fir. [From one side to the other, Solomon] built 20 cubits on the [back of the temple] & both the floor & the walls [inside were of] cedar boards.

Within it [was] even [an inner sanctuary,] the Most Holy Place. The [main part of] the house [in front of] the temple, was 40 cubits long. The cedar inside of the house was carved with [gourds] & open flowers all [of] cedar, [so] no stone was seen.

The [inner sanctuary] in the [front] was 20 cubits long & 20 cubits [wide] & 20 cubits [high]. He [had them] overlaid [& covered] with pure gold & covered the cedar altar [with gold].

So, Solomon [covered] the inside of the [temple] with pure gold. He [hung] chains of gold [in front of the inner sanctuary] that was overlaid with gold, [in order to make a] partition.

[Solomon] overlaid the whole house with gold, until he had finished all the house [of the Lord].  Also, the whole altar that was by the [inner sanctuary,] he overlaid [it] with gold.

Within the [inner sanctuary,] he made 2 cherubim [angelic statues] of olive [wood,] each 10 cubits high. [Each of the 2 wings of both cherubs] was 5 cubits long.

It was 10 cubits from the [outer tip] of one wing to the [outer tip] of the other [wing]. Both [cherubs had the same measurement & were the same] size. [Solomon had] the [cherubs put] within the inner [room of the] house.

[The 2 cherubim were put side by side, so] the [outermost] tip of one cherub touched the 1 wall & the [outermost] tip of the other [cherub] touched the other wall] & their wings [met &] touched [in the middle of the room].

They overlaid the [cherubs] with gold. [Solomon had] all the walls [of the inner & outer rooms around the house] carved with [cherubs,] palm trees & open flowers & the ]floors] overlaid with gold.

He [had] doors made of olive [wood] for the entrance to the [inner sanctuary, that] were 1/5 [the size] of the wall. The 2 doors of olive [wood had] carvings [on] them of [cherubs,] palm trees & open flowers overlaid with gold.

Also, he had doors made for the [sanctuary of the temple] of olive [wood, that was] 1/4 [the size of] the wall. [For the sanctuary entrance,] he made 2 [sets] of folding doors, [each with 2 hinged doors together that folded].

[Solomon had] them carved with [cherubs,] palm trees & open flowers [with hammered] gold over the carved work. [Solomon had] the inner court built with 3 rows of [cut] stone & a row of cedar beams.

The foundation of the [Lord’s house] was laid in the 4th year, in the month of Zif. In the 11th year, in the month of Bul, which is the 8th month [of the year,] the [Lord’s temple] & all [its parts] were finished, according to the [specifications for] it. So, [it took Solomon] 7 years [to build] it.

1 Kings 5:1-18 Solomon Makes the Arrangements for Wood to Build the Lord’s House

Solomon Makes the Arrangements for Wood to Build the Lord’s House

1 Kings 5:1-18                               1 Kings [in Smaller Chunks]

Hiram, king of Tyre, sent his servants to Solomon, [because] he had heard [Solomon was] anointed king in [place] of his father, David: for Hiram [always admired] David.

Solomon sent to Hiram, saying, You know that David, my father couldn’t build a house [for] the Lord, his God, [because of all] the wars [around] him on every side, until the Lord put [his enemies] under the soles of [David’s] feet. Now, the Lord my God, has given me [peace] on every side, so there is neither [enemy or calamity].

[See,] I [plan] to build a house [to honor] the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord [had spoken] to my father, David, saying, Your son, whom I will set upon your throne in your [place] shall build a house to [honor] My name.

Therefore, now command that they [cut for] me cedar trees [from] Lebanon & my servants shall be with your servants. I will [pay the wages] for your servants according to all you [say,] for you [know] there isn’t [any] among us that [is as skillful at cutting] timber [as] the Sidonians.

It [happened] when Hiram heard [Solomon’s] words, he rejoiced greatly & said, Blessed be the Lord this day [who] has given David a wise son over His people. Hiram sent to Solomon saying, I have considered the things you [requested from me] & I will do all you desire concerning the timber of cedar & fir.

My servants shall bring[the lumber] down from Lebanon & into the sea. I will [move] them by sea [on rafts] to the place you [tell] me & I will [have] them [released] there. You shall [fulfill] my desire by giving food for my household.

So, Hiram gave Solomon cedar & fir according to all [he desired]. Solomon gave Hiram 20,000 measures of wheat & 20 measures of pure olive oil for [Hiram’s] household [each] year.

The Lord [God] gave Solomon wisdom, as He [had] promised [Solomon] & there was peace between Hiram & Solomon & the 2 [became peaceful allies] together. King Solomon [caused the drafting] of 30,000 [workmen] out of all Israel.

[Solomon] sent [Hiram] 10,000 men to Lebanon in shifts [each] month. They were in Lebanon one month & 2 months [they were] at home. Adoniram [was over [these drafted laborers].

Solomon had 50,000 [who carried] burdens & 80,000 [woodcutters] in the mountains. [In addition to] the chief of Solomon’s officers over the work, 3,300 [supervised] the people who [did] the work.

King [Solomon] commanded [that] they bring & lay great costly [cut] stones [for] the foundation of the [Lord’s temple].

1 Kings 4:1-34 Those Solomon Puts in Charge

Those Solomon Puts in Charge

1 Kings 4:1-34                               1 Kings [in Smaller Chunks]

So, king Solomon was king over all [of] Israel. These were his [officials that] he had: Azariah [was] priest, [Zadok’s] son; Elihoreph & Ahiah [were] scribes, [Shisha’s] sons; Jehoshaphat [was] recorder, [Ahilud’s] son;

Benaiah was over the [army,] [Jehoiada’s] son; Zadok & Abiathar were priests; Azariah was over officers, [Nathan’s] son; Zabud was the [chief] officer & the king's friend, [Nathan’s other] son;

Ahishar was over the [king’s] household & Adoniram was over [forced labor,] [Abda’s] son. Solomon had 12 officers over all Israel, [who] provided [food] for the king & his household.

Each man [had his month, [during] a year [to provide food]. These are their names [& their regions:] [Note: Ben- means the son of & lists the father’s family name.]

Ben-Hur, in Mount Ephraim; Ben- Dekar, in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh & Elon Beth Hanan; Ben-Hesed, in Aruboth & [also] Sochoh & all the land of Hepher [pertained] to him.

Ben-Abinadab, [who married] Taphath, [Solomon’s] daughter & [had] all the region of Dor; Baana, [Ahilud’s] son, [these regions pertained to him:] Taanach, Megiddo, Beth Shean by Zartanah [below] Jezreel, from Beth Shean to Abel Meholah, even beyond Jokneam.

Ben-Geber & [these pertained to him:] Ramoth-Gilead & the towns of Jair, [Manasseh’s] son, [that] are in Gilead & also the region of Argob in Bashan, [with] 60 [large] cities with walls & [gates with] brass bars.

Ahinadab, [Iddo’s] son [in] Mahanaim; Ahimaaz in Naptali & he also [married] Basmath, [Solomon’s other] daughter. Baanah, [Hushai’s] son in Asher & Aloth. Jehoshaphat, [Paruah’s] son in Issachar; Shimei, [Elah’s] son in Benjamin;

Geber, [Uri’s] son in the country of Gilead, [that used to belong to] Sihon, the king of the Amorites & Og, the king of Bashan. [Geber] was the only officer [that] was in the land.

Judah & Israel [had] many [people, a] multitude, [as numerous] as the sand by the sea, [who were] eating, drinking & making merry. Solomon ruled over all kingdoms from the river [all the way] to the [Philistines’] land & to the border of Egypt.

They brought presents & served Solomon all the days of his life. The [food] for [Solomon & his household] for 1 day was 30 measures of fine flour, 60 measures of meal, 10 [fattened] oxen, 20 oxen [from] the pastures, 100 sheep,

[in addition to deer, antelope, reddish deer & fattened poultry]. [Solomon ruled] over all the region on this side [of] the [Euphrates] River, from Tiphsah even to Azzah [a.k.a. Gaza].

[Solomon was] over all the kings on [the west] side [of] the river & he had peace all [around] him. Judah & Israel [lived] safely, every man under his [own] vine & fig tree, from Dan to Beer Sheba, [throughout Solomon’s life].

Solomon had 40,000 stalls of horses for his chariots & 12,000 horsemen. Those officers provided [food] for king Solomon & all [who] came to king Solomon’s table, [each one during] his month, [so] they lacked nothing.

Also, they brought to the place where the officers were, barley & straw for the horses & [swift steeds, each] according to his [responsibility].

God gave Solomon [great] wisdom, understanding & [knowledge, without measure like] the sand on the seashore. Solomon’s wisdom [exceeded] the wisdom of all the children [people] of the countries in the East & all the wisdom of Egypt.

For [Solomon] was wiser than all men, [even wiser] than Ethan, the Ezrahite, Heman, Charcoal & Darda, [Mahol’s] sons. [Solomon’s] fame was [had been spread around] in all [the] nations.

[Solomon] spoke 3,000 proverbs & [he wrote] 1,005 songs. He spoke of trees, from the cedar tree in Lebanon, even to the hyssop [tree] that springs out of the wall.

He also spoke of [animals, birds] & things [that creep like insects] & [about] fish. [Because they] heard of [Solomon’s] wisdom, people & kings came [from all over] the earth to hear his wisdom.

1 Kings 3:1-34 God Asks Solomon What He Would Like From Him

God Asks Solomon What He Would Like From Him

1 Kings 3:1-34                               1 Kings [in Smaller Chunks]

Solomon [became the ally of] Pharaoh, [Egypt’s] king & [married] Pharaoh’s daughter & brought her to the city of David, until he [finished] building his own house, the house of the Lord & the wall [around] Jerusalem.

[Still] the people sacrificed in high places, because the house of the Lord wasn’t built [yet]. Solomon loved the Lord & [walked] in the [laws of] David, his father: [except] he sacrificed in high places.

King [Solomon] went to Gibeah to sacrifice there, for it was the [most prominent of the] high [places]. Solomon offered 1,000 burnt offerings upon that altar. In Gibeon, the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream [at] night.

God said, Ask what I shall give you? Solomon said, You have shown your servant, David, my father, great mercy, according to [his walking] before You in truth, righteousness & [an upright] heart, with You.

You have [done] this great kindness for him & have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is [today]. Now, O Lord my God, You have made [me,] Your servant, king instead of David, my father.

I am [just] a little child & I don’t know how to go out & come in [as a leader]. Your servant is in the midst of Your people [that] You have chosen. A [large amount of] people, a multitude that can’t be numbered [or] counted.

Therefore, give [me,] Your servant, an understanding heart to judge Your people, [so] I may [distinguish between] good & bad. For who is able to judge such a [large amount] of people as Yours?

It pleased the Lord that Solomon asked this thing. God said to [Solomon,] Because you asked [for] this & didn’t ask for yourself, long life, riches or the [lives] of your enemies, but asked for understanding for yourself [to judge fairly].

[Look,] I have done according to your words & I have given you a wise & understanding heart, so there was [no one] before you or [will be] after you [as wise as you are].

I have also given you [what] you didn’t ask [for:] both riches & honor, so there won’t be any king like you all [your life,] among all the kings. If you will walk in My [laws] & My commandments, [like] David, your father [walked,] then I will lengthen your [life].

Solomon awoke & [realized] it was a dream. He came to Jerusalem & stood before the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord [God] & offered up burnt offerings, peace offerings & made a feast [for] his servants.

Then, 2 women [who] were [prostitutes] came to the king & stood [in front of] him. The one woman said, O my lord, this woman & I [live] in 1 house together & I delivered a child with her in the house.

[It happened] the 3rd day after I delivered, this woman also delivered [a child]. We were together & no [one else was] with us in the house, [except the] 2 [of] us.

This woman’s child died in the night, because she [laid on him]. She arose at midnight & took my son from beside me while [I,] your hand maid, slept. She laid it [on] her bosom & laid her dead child [on] my bosom.

When I rose [up] in the morning to [nurse] my child, it was dead. But when I [thought about] it in the morning, [I saw] it wasn’t my son [that] I [had given birth to].

The other woman said, [No,] the living [child] is my son & the dead [child] is your son. She said, No, but the dead [child] is your son & the living is my son. They said [this] to the king.

King [Solomon] said, The 1 says my son lives & your son is dead & the other says, [No,] your son is dead & my son is living. The king said, Bring me a sword & they brought it to the king.

King [Solomon] said, Divide the living child in 2 & give 1/2 to one & 1/2 to the other. The woman [who gave birth to the living child] said to the king, O my lord, give her the living child & don’t kill it, for she yearned for her son.

The other [woman] said, Let it be neither my [son or] yours, but divide it. King [Solomon] answered & said, Give her the living child & don’t kill it. She is the mother [of it].

All Israel heard of the [wise] judgment [of] the king & they [respected] the king: for they saw [that] the wisdom of God was with [Solomon] to do [justice].

1 Kings 2:1-46 Adonijah’s Request to Marry Abishag

Adonijah’s Request to Marry Abishag

1 Kings 2:1-46                               1 Kings [in Smaller Chunks]

The [day] drew [near] to [when king] David should die & he [commanded] his son, Solomon, saying, I’m [about to die, as all do]. Be strong & show yourself a man.

Keep the [commands] of the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His [laws,] commandments, judgments & His testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, [so] you may prosper in all you [do,wherever] you [go].

[So] that the Lord may continue His word [that] He spoke to me, saying, If your children [pay attention] to their [actions] & walk before Me in truth with all their heart & all their soul, (He said,) There shall not fail [to be a man of your family] on the throne of Israel.

[Also,] know what Joab, [Zeruiah’s] son, did to me & to the 2 captains of the [army] of Israel: Abner, [Ner’s] son, & Amasa, [Jether’s] son, whom he [killed] & shed the blood of war in [peace time].

Put the blood of war on his belt on his waist & in his shoes on his feet. Do according to your wisdom & don’t let his [gray head] go down to the grave in peace.

But show kindness [to] Barzillai, the Gileadite & let him eat at your table, for he came to me [with food & supplies] when I fled, because of Absalom, your brother.

[Look,] you have with you, Shimei, [Gera’s] son, a Benjamite of Bahurim, [who] cursed me [terribly on] the day I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at [the] Jordan [River,] I swore to him by the Lord, saying, I won’t put you to death with the sword, but don’t hold him guiltless.

For you are a wise man & know what you ought to do to him, but bring his [gray head] down to the grave with blood. So David [died] & slept with his [forefathers] & was buried in the city of David.

[King] David [ruled] over Israel [for] 40 years. 7 years he [ruled] in Hebron & 33 years he [ruled] in Jerusalem. Solomon, sat upon the throne of David, his father & his kingdom was established [magnificently].

Adonijah [David’s other brother born to] Haggith, came to Bathsheba, [Solomon’s] mother. She asked, [Did] you come [peacefully]? He said, [Peacefully]. He [also] said, I have [something] to say to you.

[Bathsheba] told him [to continue speaking]. [Adonijah] said, You know that the kingdom was mine & all Israel [had looked to me, to rule]. [However] the kingdom [has] turned [around & has] become my brother’s: for it was his from the Lord. Now, I ask a favor of you. Don’t deny me.

[Bathsheba] said, [Continue]. [Adonijah] said, I pray that you speak to king Solomon, (for he won’t say [no] to you,) [so] he will give me Abishag, the Shunammite to [marry]. Bathsheba said, I will speak to the king for you.

Therefore, Bathsheba went to king Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah. The king, who [was sitting] on his throne, [stood] up to [greet] her & bowed to her. [He had] a seat [put there] for the king’s mother & she sat at his right hand.

Then, she said, I have a small [favor to ask] of you. I pray you don’t say [no] to me. The king said, [Continue, my mother, for I won’t say [no] to you. She said, Let Abishag, the Shunammite, be given to Adonijah, your brother, to marry.

King Solomon answered his mother & said, [Why do] you ask [for] Abishag, the Shunammite, for Adonijah? [Do] you also ask for the kingdom, for he is my elder brother; [does he also want] Abiathar, the priest & Joab [Zeruiah’s] son?

Then, king Solomon swore by the Lord saying, If Adonijah hasn’t [requested] this against his own life, God do so to me & more also, as the Lord [lives who] has established me & [put] me on my father, [David’s,] throne.

[The Lord God] has [given the kingdom to me & to future generations like] He promised. Adonijah shall be put to death this day. King Solomon sent Benaiah, [Jehoiada’s] son & he [struck down Adonijah] & he died.

King [Solomon] said to Abiathar, the priest, [Go] to Anathoth, to your own field; for you are worthy of death. But I won’t put you to death at this time, because you [carried] the Ark of the Lord God before my father, David & you [suffered through all] my father [suffered through].

So, Solomon [stopped] Abiathar from being [a] priest to the Lord, so he might fulfill the word of the Lord, [that] He spoke [about] the house of Eli in Shiloh. Then [news] came to Joab, for Joab [had followed] Adonijah, [although he didn’t follow] Absalom.

Joab fled into the tabernacle of the Lord & [grabbed] hold [of] the horns on the altar. King Solomon was told that Joab [had] fled into the tabernacle of the Lord & is by the altar.

Then, Solomon sent Benaiah, [Jehoiada’s] son, saying, Go, [strike him down]. Benaiah came to the tabernacle of the Lord & said, The king has said, Come [out]. But [Joab] said, [No,] I will die here.

Benaniah told the king [what Joab said to him]. King Solomon said to [Benaiah,] Do as he said & [Strike him down] & bury him, [so] you may take away the innocent blood [that] Joab shed, from me & from the house of my father.

The Lord shall return his blood on [Joab’s] own head, who [struck down] 2 men more righteous & better than he [is,] Abner, [Ner’s] son, captain of the [army] of Israel & Amasa, [Jethro’s] son & captain of the [army] of Judah & [killed] them with the sword.

My father, David, didn’t know [about] it. Their blood shall be [returned] upon the head of Joab & his [descendants] forever. But there shall be peace upon David & his [descendants,] his house & his throne forever from the Lord.

So, Benaiah, [Jehoida’s] son, went up & [struck down Joab & killed ] him & he was buried in his own house in the wilderness. King [Solomon] put Benaiah, [Johoiada’s] son, in [Joab’s position] over the [army].

The king put Zadok, the priest, in [place of] Abiathar. King [Solomon] sent for Shimei & said to him, Build a house for you in Jerusalem & [live] there, but don’t [go out of there].

It shall be on the day [that] you go out & pass over  the Brook Kidron, you shall know for certain, you shall surely die & your blood will be on your own head. Shimei said to the king, [This is] good & I will do as my lord, the king, has said & my servants will do so, [also].

Shimei [lived] in Jerusalem [a long time]. At the end of 3 years, 2 of Shimei’s servants ran away to Achish, [Maachah’s] son, king of Gath. Shimei arose & saddled his [mule] & went to Gath to Achish to [find] his servants & brought his servants [back] from Gath.

Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to Gath & had come [back]. King [Solomon] sent for Shimei & said to him, Didn’t I make you swear by the Lord & [warned] you, saying, Know for certain, on the day you go out & walk [elsewhere,] you shall surely die?

You said to me, The word I have heard is good. Why haven’t you kept the oath of the Lord & the [command] I charged you with? The king [also] said to Shimei, You know all the wickedness of your heart, that you did to David, my father.

Therefore, the Lord shall return your wickedness upon your own head. King Solomon & the throne of David shall be established before the Lord forever. King [Solomon] commanded Benaiah, [Jehoiada’s] son, [who] went out & [struck him down] & he died. And the kingdom was established in the hand of Solomon.
