About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible::

About the Author of the Blogsite, Not the Author of the Bible: I was uncertain of how to accomplish this, mindful of Revelation 22:18-19, which says that nobody is to add to, or to take away from what was written in the Bible. After lots of prayerful contemplation, the Lord had it on my heart that I’m not to change the meaning of what is written in the Bible. He has also shown ways to add to people’s understating of that meaning, without altering the meaning, by putting that info within [brackets]. This is primarily accomplished with the KJV Bible and lots of prayers, but at times, BibleGateway.com, Biblehub.com, NIV Bible, Webster Dictionary, and other internet resources, as needed. About Understanding the Bible:

Understanding the Bible: After reading Isaiah 28:10 many times over the years and not totally understanding it, it recently became apparent to me that the Lord God has this passage as the means for understanding the Bible. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little. Isaiah 28:10 KJV. Being prayerful about this passage, and looking up 'precept' in the Webster's Dictionary, it gave this passage a whole new meaning, once 'commandment' is substituted for 'precept'. Within brackets are additional words the Lord had on my heart to aid in understanding the meaning. For commandment must be [built up] upon commandment; commandment upon commandment; line upon line, line upon line; [developing understanding] here a little, and there a little.

The Table Format:

The Table Format: I was overwhelmed with how to explain the process for determining if someone had leprosy in Leviticus 13, which seemed very complicated. After praying, "Lord, if this is difficult for me to understand after reading it many times, how can this be explained to others?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was for me to put it into a vertical chart to visually see the process. This made it much easier for me to follow the progression. After doing so, I prayed, "Lord, how can this be conveyed to readers, so that they can understand this process?" The thought the Lord God had on my heart was to put it within the lines of a table. Being a stiff-necked, stubborn person, as it's often called in the Bible, I prayed, asking the Lord God if He's sure that's really what He wanted me to do? I reluctantly put Leviticus 13 into a table format. When I read this difficult leprosy process within a table format, it suddenly became easier for me to understand. That's because it builds line upon line, as explained in the Understanding the Bible section. Shortly after that, the Lord God had it on my heart, to put all of The Books of the Bible in Smaller Chunks within a table format, to aid in understanding, line upon line.

2 Samuel 3:1-39 Abner Helps God Make David King Over Israel & Judah

Abner Helps God Make David King Over Israel & Judah

2 Samuel 3:1-39       The Book of 2 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks]

Now, there was a long war between the house [family] of Saul & the house [family] of David, but David [grew] stronger & stronger & the [family] of Saul grew weaker & weaker.

[These are the] sons born to David in Hebron. Ammon, his firstborn [by] Ahinoam, [from Jezreel]. His 2nd, Chileab [by] Abigail, [Nabel’s widow from Carmel].

The 3rd, Absalom, the son [by] Maacah, daughter of Talmai, [Geshur’s] king. 4th, Adonijah, the son [by] Haggith. The 5th, Shephatiah, son [by] Abital. The 6th, Ithream by Eglah, David’s wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

While there was war between the [family] of Saul & the [family] of David, Abner made himself [stronger] for the [family] of Saul. Saul had a [mistress named] Rizpah, [Ahiah’s] daughter.

Ishbosheth said to Abner, [Why] have you [been intimate with my deceased] father’s [mistress]? Abner was very [angry with what] Ishbosheth [said & he] said, Am I [the] head of a dog against Judah [to be treated like this]?

[To] this day, I have shown kindness to the [family] of Saul, your father & to his [brothers] & his friends & I haven’t delivered you into the hand of David & you [accuse] me this day with a fault [about] this woman?

[May] God do more to [me,] Abner, if I don’t do as the Lord has sworn to David. Even [this] I do [for David], to [transfer] the kingdom from the [family]of Saul & set up the throne of David over Israel & Judah, from Dan to BeerSheba.

[Ishbosheth] couldn’t answer Abner a word again, because he [was afraid] of him. Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose land is it? [Join] with me & [see,] my hand shall be with you, to bring all of Israel to you.

[David] said, Well, I will make a [pact] with you, but I require 1 thing [from] you. You shall not see my face [unless] you 1st bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when you come to see me. David sent messengers to Ishbosheth, saying, Deliver my wife, Michal, [who was given to me in marriage] for 100 Philistine foreskins.

Ishbosheth sent & took [Michal] from her [current] husband, Phaltiel, the son of Laish. Her husband went along with her, weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then Abner [told] him [to] return & he returned.

Abner had [talked] with the elders of Israel, saying, You [wanted] David to be king over you in the past, now do it; for the Lord [God] has spoken of David, saying, By the hand of My servant, David, I will save My people, Israel out of the [hands] of the Philistines & out of the [hands] of all their enemies.

Also, Abner spoke to the [family of] Benjamin & he also spoke to David in Hebron, all that seemed good to Israel & the whole house of Benjamin. So Abner & 20 men came to David in Hebron.

David made a [large] feast for Abner & his men with him. Abner said to David, I will arise & go gather all Israel to my lord, the king, so they may [join] with you & you may [rule] over all that your heart desires.

David sent Abner away & he went in peace. When the servants of David & Joab came from pursuing a troop & brought in [lots of plunder] with them, but Abner wasn’t with David in Hebron, [because David] had sent him away in peace.

When Joab & all the [army] that was with him [had] come, they told Joab, saying, Abner, [Ner’s] son, came to the king & has been sent away & he has gone in peace. Then Joab came to king David & [asked,] What have you done?

[Look,] Abner came to you. Why is it  that you sent him away & he’s gone? You know Abner, [Ner’s] son. He came to deceive you & to know all that you do & when you [go] out & [come] in.

[After,] Joab [left] David, he sent messengers after Abner & brought him [back] from the Well of Sirah. But David didn’t know it. When Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside [at] the gate & spoke quietly to him & [struck] him there under the 5th rib & he died for [killing Joab’s brother, Asahel].

Afterward, when David heard it, he said, My kingdom & I are guiltless, [in front of] the Lord forever for the blood of Abner, [Ner’s] son. Let it rest on the head of Joab & his father’s house.

Let there not fail to be [someone who] has [a discharge,] leprosy, [or is lame &] leans on a staff, falls on a sword, or lacks bread. So Joab & Abishai, his brother, [killed] Abner, because he had [killed] their brother, Asahl at Gibeon in the battle.

David [told ] Joab & all the people with him, [Tear] your clothes & [put on] sackcloth [signs of mourning] & mourn before Abner. King David, himself followed the [funeral] bier.

They buried Abner in Hebron & the king lifted up his voice & wept at the grave of Abner & all the people wept. King David [mourned] over Abner & said, [Why did] Abner die [like] a fool dies? Your hands weren’t [tied] & your feet weren’t [chained, like] a man who falls before the wicked men, [like you died].

All the people wept over him again. When all the people came & [encouraged] David to eat meat while it was [still daylight,] David swore, saying, If I taste bread before the sun [goes] down, God should do the same to me & more].

The people took [note] of it & it pleased them, [since whatever] the king did, pleased all the people. For all the people & all Israel [knew] that day that king [David never intended] to [kill] Abner, [Ner’s] son.

The king said to his servants, [Do you know] that a [prince & a great man has fallen this day in Israel? [Although,] I’m anointed king this day, I am weak & these men, the sons of Zeruiah [are] too [difficult] for me. The Lord shall [repay] the doer of [this] evil according to his wickedness.

2 Samuel 2:1-32 David is Anointed King Over Judah

David is Anointed King Over Judah

2 Samuel 2:1-32       The Book of 2 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks]

It [happened] after this, David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah? The Lord said to him, Go up. David asked, [Where] shall I go up? [The Lord God] said, Hebron.

So David, his 2 wives: Ahinoam, [from Jezreel] & Abigail, Nabal’s [widow from Carmel] & all David’s men that were with him & their households went there & [lived] in the cities of Hebron.

The men of Judah came there & anointed David king over the house of Judah & [said,] The men of Jabesh Gilead were [those who] buried Saul. David sent messengers to [them] & said, Blessed [are you] of the Lord, that you have shown this kindness to Saul, your lord, [when] you buried him.

Now the Lord [show] kindness & truth to you & I will also [repay] this kindness, because you have done this. Be valiant & let your hands be strengthened: for your master, Saul, is dead & the house of Judah has also anointed me king over them.

Abner, son of Ner, captain of Saul’s [army,] took Ishbosheth, [Saul’s] son & brought him over to Mahanaim & made him king over Gilead & the Ashurites, Jezreel, Ephraim, Benjamin & all of Israel.

Ishbosheth, Saul’s son, was 40 years old when he began to [rule] over Israel. He [ruled] for 2 years, but the house of Judah followed David. David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah for 7 years & 6 months.

Aber, [Ner’s] son & [Ishbosheth’s] servants went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon. Joab, son of Zeruiah, & David’s servants went out & met together by the pool of Gibeon & sat down on [opposite sides] of the pool.

Abner said to Joab, Let the young men rise & [compete] before us & Joab [agreed]. There went 12 of Benjamin [who represented] Ishbosheth, [Saul’s] son & 12 of David’s servants [went].

They [each] caught [their opponent] by the head & thrust his sword through his side. So they fell down together & that place is called Helkath Hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.

There was a very [fierce] battle that day & Abner was beaten & the men of Israel [were beaten], before the servants of David. There were 3 sons of Zeruiah there: Joab, Abishai & Asahel [who was a fast runner like] a wild [deer].

Asahel pursued after Abner & didn’t turn [away] from following Abner to the right hand or the left. Abner looked behind & said, Are you, Asahel? He answered, I am.

Abner [told] him,Turn aside to the right hand or the left & [grab] 1 of the young men & take his armor. But Asahel wouldn’t [stop] from following him. Abner [asked] him again to turn aside from following him or he’d have to [strike] him to the ground & how could he face Joab, his brother?

[However, Asahel] refused to turn aside & Abner [struck Asahel] under the 5th rib & the spear came out behind him & [Asahel] fell down & died there. [It happened,] as many [who] came to the place where Asahel fell & died, [just] stood there [quietly].

Joab & Abishai pursued after Abner [who killed their brother until sunset, until] they came to the Hill of Ammah, that [lies in front of] Giah, by the [road] of the Wilderness of Gibeon.

The children [people] of Benjamin gathered together & became [united like one band] & stood on the top of a hill & Abner called to Joab & said, Shall the sword devour forever? Don’t you know it will [lead to] bitterness in the end?

How long shall it be [before you make] the people [stop &] return from following their brethren? Joab said, As God lives, if you hadn’t spoken, then surely [the men would have continued following them until] morning.

So, Joab blew the trumpet & all the people stood still & [stopped pursuing] after Israel & didn’t fight any more. Abner & his men walked all night through the plain & [crossed] over [the] Jordan [River] & went through all [of] Bithron & they came to Mahanaim.

Joab returned from following Abner & when he had gathered all the people together, 19 of David’s servants & Asahel were [missing]. But the servants of David had [struck down & killed] 360 Benjamites & Abner’s men.

They took up Asahel & buried him in the [tomb] of his father in Bethlehem. Joab & his men went all night & they came to Hebron at [daybreak].

2 Samuel 1:1-27 The Man Who Killed Saul is Punished

The Man Who Killed Saul is Punished

2 Samuel 1:1-27       The Book of 2 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks]

After the death of Saul, when David returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, David [stayed] in Ziklag for 2 days. It [happened,] on the 3rd day, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes [torn] & [dirt] on his head [signs of mourning] & came to David & fell to the ground & [bowed].

David asked, [Where] do you come from? He said, I escaped out of the camp of Israel. David [asked] him, How [did it go]? I pray that you tell me. He answered, The [Israelites] fled from the battle & many of the people [have] fallen & dead & Saul & his sons are dead, also.

David [asked] the young man, How do you know that Saul & his sons [are] dead? He said, As I happened [to be] on Mount Gilboa, [I saw] Saul lean upon his spear & the chariots & horsemen followed hard after him.

When [Saul] looked behind him, he saw me & called to me & I answered, Here I am. [Saul] asked who I am & I told him, I’m an Amalekite. He [talked] to me again [& said,] I pray that you stand upon me & [kill] me, for [I am filled with agony, but I’m still alive].

So, I stood upon him & [killed] him, because I was sure [Saul] couldn’t live after he [had] fallen [on his sword]. I took the crown upon his head & the bracelet from his arm & brought them [here] to [you,] my lord.

David took hold [of] his clothes & [tore] them, [as did] all the men with him [a sign of mourning]. They mourned, wept & fasted until [evening] for Saul, Jonathan, his son & for the people of the Lord & the house of Israel, because they [died] by the sword.

David [asked,] the young man [who] told him, [Where] are you [from]? He answered, I am the son of a stranger, and Amalekite. David [asked] him, [Why] weren’t you afraid to stretch [out] your hand to destroy the Lord’s anointed?

David called 1 of [his] young men & said, Go [close] & fall upon him [with a sword]. He [struck] him & he died. David [had previously] said to him, Your blood is upon your [own] head, for you testified [with your own] mouth against [yourself], saying, I have [killed] the Lord’s anointed.

David [mourned the death of] Saul & Jonathan, his son. ([David had] them also teach the children of Judah [how to] use a bow. [Look,] it is written in the Book of Jasher.) [According to: cristianity.com, it is an ancient book of events from creation to the death of Joshua].

[Your glory, O] Israel, [lies] slain upon your [heights]. How the mighty have fallen! Don’t tell it in Gath [or declare] it in Ashkelon; lest the daughter of the uncircumcised Philistines rejoice & triumph.

You mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew or rain upon you & no fields [producing] grain [for] offerings. For the shield of the mighty, [including]  the shield of Saul, [have been treacherously] cast away, [as if Saul] hadn’t been anointed with oil.

From the blood of the slain & the fat of the mighty, [Jonathan’s] bow didn’t [retreat] & the sword of Saul didn’t return [empty]. [Both] Saul & Jonathan [were loved & admired] in their lives & in their death, they weren’t divided.

They were swifter than eagles & stronger than lions. You daughters of Israel, [cry] over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet & other delights. Who put ornaments of gold upon your [clothing].

How the mighty have fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, [lies] slain in your [heights]. I am [saddened & grieved] for you, my brother, Jonathan. You have been very [nice] to me.

Your love to me was wonderful. [Far surpassing] the love of a woman [for her husband]. How the mighty have fallen & the weapons of war are perished!

1 Samuel 31:1-13 Saul & His Sons Are Killed

Saul & His Sons Are Killed

1 Samuel 31:1-13                The Book of 1 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks]

Now, the Philistines fought against Israel & the men of Israel fled from [in front of] the Philistines & [many died] in Mount Gilboa. And the Philistines followed hard [after] Saul & his sons.

The Philistines [killed] Jonathan, Abinadab & Melchi Shua, Saul’s sons. The battle was [very intense] against Saul & [an] archer hit him & he was [seriously wounded by] the archers.

Then, Saul said to his armor bearer, Draw your sword & thrust [it] through [me,] lest the uncircumcised come & [stab] me & abuse me. But his armor bearer wouldn’t [do it, because] he was [very] afraid.

[So,] Saul took a sword & fell upon it. And when his armor bearer saw Saul was dead, he [also] fell on his sword & died with [Saul.] So, Saul & his 3 sons, the armor bearer & all his men died together.

And when the men of Israel [who were] on the other side of the valley & [those who] were on he other side [of the] Jordan [River,] saw [that] Saul & his sons were dead & the [remaining men of the Israelite army] had fled, they [abandoned] the cities & fled.

And the Philistines came & [lived] in them. It [happened the next day,] when the Philistines came to strip [those killed for plunder,] they found Saul & his 3 sons [dead] on Mount Gilboa.

And [the Philistines] cut off [Saul’s] head & stripped off his armor & sent [them] all around the land of the Philistines [to proclaim the news] in the house of their idols & among the people.

And they put [Saul’s] armor in the house of Ashtaroth & fastened [Saul’s] body to the wall of Beth Shan. [1 Samuel 7:3. And Samuel [spoke] to all the house of Israel, saying,  If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods & Ashtaroth from among you & prepare your hearts to the Lord & serve Him only & He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.]

And when the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead heard [what] the Philistines had done to Saul, all the valiant men arose & went all night & took [down Saul’s] body & the bodies of his 3 sons [off] the wall of Beth Shan & came to Jabesh [where] they burned them.

And they took their bones & buried them under a tree at Jabesh & fasted 7 days.

1 Samuel 30:1-31 David & His Men Rescue Their Captive Wives & Children

David & His Men Rescue Their Captive Wives & Children

1 Samuel 30:1-31                The Book of 1 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks]

It [happened,] when David & his men [came] to Ziklag on the 3rd day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south & Ziklag & [defeated] Ziklag & burned it with fire. [They] had taken away the women captive that were [in Ziklag] & didn’t kill any, [whether old or young,] but carried them away [with them.]

So, David & his men came to the city & [saw,] it was burned with fire & their wives, sons & daughters were taken [captive.] Then, David & the people with him lifted up their [voices & cried,] until they had no more [energy to cry.]

David’s 2 wives were taken [captive:] Ahinoam, [from Jezreel] & Abigail, [Nabal’s widow, from Carmel.] David was [very] distressed; for the people [spoke] of stoning him, because their souls were grieved for [their children.]

But David [was] encouraged [& found strength through] the Lord his God. David said to Abiathar, the priest, [Ahimelech’s] son, I pray [that] you bring me the ephod & Abiathar brought the ephod to David.

David [consulted] the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? [The Lord God] answered [David,] Pursue: for you shall surely overtake them & without fail recover all.

So, David & his 600 men with him [went] & came to the Brook Besor, where those [who] were left behind stayed. But David & 400 men pursued, [while] 200 men [stayed] behind, [because they were so exhausted] they couldn’t go over the Brook Besor.

They found an Egyptian in the field & brought him to David & gave him bread & he [ate.] They made him drink [some] water & gave him a piece of a cake of figs & 2 clusters of raisins.

When he had eaten, his strength [came back] to him again, [since] he hadn’t eaten [any] bread, nor drunk water [in] 3 days & 3 nights. David [asked] him, To whom [do you] belong? [Where] are you from?

He said, I’m a young man [from] Egypt, [a] servant to an Amalekite & my master left me, because I [became] sick 3 days ago. We made an invasion upon the coast [belonging] to Judah, south of the Cherethites & south of Caleb & we burned Ziklag with fire.

David said to him, Can you bring me down to this company? [The man] said, Swear to me by God, that you will neither kill me, nor deliver me into the hands of my master & I will bring you down to this company.

And when [the man] brought [them] down, [they saw the company] was spread all [over] eating, drinking & dancing, because of the [large plunder] they had taken out of the land of the Philistines & out of the land of Judah.

And David [attacked] them from twilight [until] the evening of the next day & not a man of them escaped [except] for 400 young men who fled on camels. David recovered all the Amalekites had [taken] away & rescued his 2 wives.

And there was nothing lacking [of what they recovered] neither small nor [large,] neither sons nor daughters, nor anything they had taken from them. David recovered all.

David took all their flocks & herds [which David’s men drove in front of the] other cattle & said, This is David’s [plunder.] David came to the 200 [exhausted] men, who were so faint that they couldn’t follow David & made them [stay] by the Brook Besor.

And they went to meet David & the people with him. When David came near the people, he [greeted] them.

Then, all the wicked & [worthless] men [who] went with David, said, Because they [didn’t go] with us, we won’t give them [any] of the [plunder] that we have recovered, [except for] every [man’s] wife & children, [so] they may lead them away & depart.

Then, David said, My [brothers,] you shall not [be greedy] with [all] the Lord has given [to] us. [He] has [protected] us & has delivered the company into our hand [that attacked] us. Who will [listen] to you in this matter?

[Everyone] shall [share] alike: [those who] went down to the battle & [those who waited] by the stuff. From that day forward, [David] made it a [mandate & a rule] for Israel [until] this day.

And when David came to Ziklag, he sent [some] of the [plunder] to the elders of Judah & even to his friends, saying, [Look,] a present for you [from the plunder] of the enemies of the Lord.

[David sent it to those in:] BethEl, south in Ramoth & in Jattir, Aroer, Siphmoth, Eshtemoa, Rachal & in the cities of the: Jerahmeelites, Kenites, Hormah, Chor Ashan, Ahtach, Hebron & all the places where David & his men [had roamed.]

1 Samuel 29:1-11 Philistines Discuss Whether to Take David to War Against Israel

Philistines Discuss Whether to Take David to War Against Israel

1 Samuel 29:1-11                The Book of 1 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks]

Now, the Philistines gathered all their armies together [at] Aphek & the Israelites pitched [tents] by a fountain [that] is in Jezreel. The Philistine lords [marched] on by 100’s & 1,000’s, but David & his men [marched] in the [rear] with Achish.

Then, the [Philistine] princes [asked, Why are] these Hebrews here? Achish said to [them,] Isn’t this David, the servant of Saul, the king of Israel, [who] has been with me all these days & years?

I haven’t found [any] fault in him, since he [defected to me, until] this day? The [Philistine] princes were [angry] with him & said, Make [David] return & go to the place you have appointed [to] him.

[But don’t] let him go down with us [into] battle, lest in battle, [David turns himself against] us. Should [David reunite with] his master, [Saul, than] be with the heads of these men?

Isn’t this David, of whom they sang to one another & [danced,] saying, Saul [killed] 1,000’s, but David [killed] 10,000’s?

Then, Achish called David to him & said to him, As surely as the Lord lives, you have been upright & your goings in & out with the [army] have been good in my sight.

For I haven’t found [any wickedness] in you, since the day you [came] to me [until] this day. [Still,] the [Philistine] lords [aren’t in] favor [of] you [going to battle with them.]

[For this reason,] return & go in peace, [so] that you [won’t] displease the [Philistine] lords. David [asked] Achish, What have I done? What have you found in me,] your servant, [all this time] I have been with you until this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord, king [Achish?]

Achish [answered] David, I know you [have been] good in my sight [like] an angel of God, [but still] the [Philistine] princes have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

[For this reason, you & your] master’s servants [who] have come with you, [rise] up early in the morning [at daylight] & [leave.] David & his men rose early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines & the Philistine [army] went up to Jezreel.

1 Samuel 28:1-25 Saul Sees a Woman to Call Samuel from the Dead

Saul Sees a Woman to Call Samuel from the Dead

1 Samuel 28:1-25                The Book of 1 Samuel [in Smaller Chunks]

It [happened] in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight against Israel. Achish said to David, Know [for certain] you & your men shall go out with me to battle.

David said to Achish, Surely you shall know what [I,] your servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore, I will make you my [chief guard to protect me] forever.

Now, Samuel was dead & all Israel mourned [for] him & buried him in Ramah, his own city. Saul had [banned] all the [those who] had familiar spirits & the wizards, out of the land.

The Philistines gathered together & pitched [tents] in Shunem. And Saul gathered all Israel together & they pitched [tents] in Gilboa. When Saul saw the Philistine [army,] he was [very] afraid & his heart trembled greatly. When Saul [asked the Lord what to do,] the Lord didn’t answer [Saul] neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.

Saul [told] his servants, [Search for] a woman [who] has a familiar spirit, [so] I may go & [ask of] her. His servant said to him, [Look,] there is a woman in Endor [who contacts the dead.]

Saul disguised himself & put on other [clothes] & [Saul] went with 2 men & they came to the woman [at] night. [Saul] said, I pray [that] you divine [for] me by the familiar spirit & [conjure up the person] whom I shall name to you.

And the woman said, [Look,] you know what Saul has done & how he has [banned] those who have familiar spirits & wizards out of this land. [Why] are you then [laying this trap] for my life, to cause me to die?

Saul [swore] to her by the Lord [God,] saying, As the Lord lives, no punishment shall happen to you for this thing. Then, the woman [asked,] Whom shall I [conjure] up for you? [Saul] said, [Conjure] up Samuel [for] me.

When the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice & [spoke] to Saul, saying, Why have you deceived me? For you [are] Saul. King [Saul] said to her, [Don’t] be afraid. What [did you see?]

The woman said, I saw [a spirit coming up] out of the earth. [Saul] said to her, What is [his appearance?] She said, An old man [came] up & he is covered with a [hooded robe.] Saul [realized] it was Samuel & bowed [facing] the ground.

Samuel said to Saul, Why have you [disturbed] me, to bring me up? Saul answered, I am [severely] distressed; for the Philistines [have made] war against me & God [has] departed from me & [won’t answer] me [any] more, by prophets, [or] by dreams.

Therefore, I have called you, [so you can] make [it] known to me what I shall do. Then, Samuel said, [Why] do you ask [this] of me, seeing the Lord [has] departed from you & [has] become your enemy.

The Lord has done to [Saul] as He [said] by me; for the Lord [God] has [torn] the kingdom out of your hand & has given it to your neighbor, even to David, because you [didn’t obey] the voice of the Lord, [or execute] His fierce [anger] on Amalek.

[1 Samuel 15:18-19 And the Lord sent you on a journey & said, Go & [totally] destroy the sinners, the Amalekites & fight against them until they [are] consumed. [For what reason] then, did you not obey the voice of the Lord, but [flew] upon the [plunder] & did evil in the sight of the Lord?]

Therefore, the Lord [has] done this thing to you, this day. [Additionally,] the Lord will also deliver Israel & you into the hand of the Philistines. Tomorrow you & your sons [shall die &] be with me.

The Lord shall also deliver the [Israelite army] into the hand of the Philistines. Then, Saul fell [flat] on the [ground] & was [very] afraid, because of [what Samuel said.]

There was no strength in [Saul, since] he hadn’t eaten [any] bread all day [or] night. The woman came to Saul & saw he was [very] troubled & said to him, [Look,] your handmaid [has] obeyed your voice & I’ve [risked] my life, [by listening] to your words [that] you spoke to me.

Therefore, I pray [that] you now [listen] to [me,] your handmaid & let me [put a piece] of bread before you [to] eat, [so] that you have strength, when you [go] on your way.

[Saul] refused, but his servants, together with the woman, [urged] him & [Saul listened] to [them.] [Saul] arose from the [ground] & sat on the bed.

The woman had a [fattened] calf & [quickly] killed it & took flour & kneaded it & [baked] unleavened bread [with it.]  She brought it to Saul & the servants & they [ate.] Then, they rose up & went away that night.
