The Lord's Bow & Hailstone Arrows |
Habakkuk 3:1-19 The Book of Habakkuk [in Smaller Chunks] |
A prayer [by] Habakkuk, the prophet, on Shigionoth. O Lord, I have heard Your speech, & was afraid. O Lord, [restore] Your work in the midst of the years. Make [Yourself] known [during] the midst of the years, & in wrath, [a.k.a. anger,] remember mercy. |
[Psalm 103:17-18 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting, upon [those, who] fear [respect] Him. And His righteousness to [their] children's children. To [those, who] keep His covenant [contract] & to those [who] remember His commandments & do them.] |
God came from Teman, & the Holy One [came] from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, & the earth was full of His praise. [Deuteronomy 33:1-3 And this is the blessing, [with which,] Moses, the man of God, blessed the children [people] of Israel before his death. |
And he said, The Lord came from Sinai, & rose up from Seir to them. He shined [out] from Mount Paran, & He came with 10,000's of saints. A fiery Law for them went from His right hand. [Yes,] He loved the people, & all His saints are in Your hand. And they sat down at Your feet. Everyone shall receive Your Words.] |
And His brightness was [like] the light. [Psalm 31:15-16 My times are in Your hand. Deliver me from the hand of [my] enemies, & from [those, who] persecute me. Make Your face to shine upon Your servant. Save me for Your mercies' sake.] |
He had horns, [a.k.a. light rays,] coming out [from] His hand, & His power was [hidden] there. [Revelation 1:16-18 And He had in His right hand, 7 stars. And out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword. And His [face] was [like] the sun shines in [its] strength. |
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet [like] dead. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying to me, [Don't] fear. I Am the First & the Last. I Am He, [Who] lives, & was dead. And, [look,] I Am alive forever more, & have the keys of hell & of death. Amen.] |
The pestilence went before Him, & burning coals, [a.k.a. fever, followed] at His feet. [Leviticus 26:14-18 But if you won't [listen] to Me, & won't do all these commandments; & if you shall despise My [mandates,] or if your soul [loathes] My judgments, so that you won't do all My commandments, but you break My covenant [contract.] |
I will also do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, consumption, [a.k.a. Tuberculosis,] the burning ague, [a.k.a. fever,] that shall consume the eyes, & cause [sorrowful hearts.] |
And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And if you won't [obey] Me, [after] all this, then I will punish you 7 times [as much] for your sins.] |
He stood, & measured, [a.k.a. surveyed] the earth. He [saw,] & drove the nations [out] [in pieces.] [Psalm 44:1-2 O God, we have heard with our ears, [what] our [forefathers] have told us, [about] what work You did in their days, in the times of old. How You [drove] out the heathen with Your hand, & planted them. How you [afflicted] the people, & cast them out.] |
And the everlasting mountains were scattered, & the perpetual hills [bowed.] [Nahum 1:5-6 At Him, the mountains quake, & the hills melt. And the earth is burned at His presence. [Yes,] the world, & all [who] dwell [in there.] |
Who can stand before His indignation, [a.k.a. anger about unfair treatment?] And who can [endure] the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, & the rocks are thrown down by Him.] |
His ways are from everlasting. I saw the tents of Cushan, [afflicted.] And the curtains [trembled in] the land of Midian. [Judges 7:6-7 And the number of [those, who] lapped [water] by putting their hand to their mouth, were 300 men, but the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water. |
And the Lord said to Gideon, I will save you by the 300 men, [who] lapped, & deliver the Midianites into your hand. And let all the other people go, every man to his [home.] |
Was the Lord displeased against the rivers? Was Your anger against the rivers? [Isaiah 18:1-2 Woe to the land [shaded by] wings, [that] is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia: [who] sends ambassadors by the sea, even in vessels [made] of bulrushes, [a.k.a. reeds or papyrus,] upon the waters. |
Saying, You swift messengers, go to a nation, scattered & peeled. To a people terrible from their beginning [until now:] a nation [measured] out & [tampled] down, whose land the rivers have spoiled, [a.k.a. divided!] |
Was your [fury] against the sea, that You [rode] upon Your horses & Your chariot of Salvation? [Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, & [saw] a white horse. And He, [Who] sat upon him was called: Faithful & True, & He [judges] & [makes] war in righteousness.] |
Your bow was made quite [visible.] [Revelation 6:2 And I [looked] & [saw] a white horse. And He, [Who] sat on him, had a bow. And a crown was given to Him. And He went [out] conquering, & to conquer.] |
Even Your Word [is] according to the oaths [to] the tribes. Selah. [Luke 1:73-75 The oath [that] He [swore] to our [forefather,] Abraham, that He would grant to us, that we [who were] delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness & righteousness before Him, all the days of our life.] |
You [divided] the earth with rivers. The mountains saw You & they trembled. The overflowing [waters] passed [over.] The deep uttered [its] voice, & lifted up [its] hands on high. |
[Exodus 14:26-29 And the Lord said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, [so] that the waters may [return] again, upon the: Egyptians, their chariots, & their horsemen. |
And Moses stretched [out] his hand over the sea, & the sea returned to [its] strength, [at day break.] And the Egyptians fled against it; & the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the [Red] Sea. And the waters returned, & covered the: chariots, horsemen, & all of [Pharaoh's army,] that came into the sea after them. |
There remained not one of them [left.] But the children [people] of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea. And the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, & on their left.] |
The sun & the moon stood still in their habitation. [Joshua 10:12-14 Then, Joshua [spoke] to the Lord [on] the day, when the Lord delivered up the Amorites, [in front of] the children [people] of Israel, & he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, you stand still upon Gibeon. |
And you, Moon, [stand still,] in the Valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, & the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Isn't this written in the Book of Jasher? |
So, the sun stood still in the midst of heaven & [didn't rush] to go down, about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it, or after it, that the Lord [did according] to the voice of a man. For the Lord fought for Israel.] |
They went, at the light of Your arrows, & at the shining of Your glittering spear. [Joshua 10:8-11 And the Lord said to Joshua, [Don't] fear them: for I have delivered them into your hand. There shall not [be] a man of them [left to] stand [in front of] you. |
Therefore, Joshua came to them suddenly, & went up from Gilgal all night. And the Lord [disoriented] them [in front of] Israel, & slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, & chased them along the [road] that goes up to Beth Horon, & [struck] them [all the way] to Azekah & to Makkedah. |
And it [happened,] as they fled from [in front of] Israel, & were going down to Beth Horon, that the Lord [threw] down [large] [hail] stones from heaven, upon them [all the way] to Azekah, & they died. |
[There] were more, [who] died with hailstones than [those,] whom the children [people] of Israel [struck down] with the sword.] |
You [marched] through the land in indignation, [a.k.a. anger provoked by injustice.] You [threshed] the heathen in anger. [2 Kings 19:32-35 Therefore, the Lord says [this about] the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come [in front of] it with a shield, nor [throw up an embankment] against it. |
He shall return by the same [road] that he came, & shall not come into this city, says the Lord. For I will defend this city, to save it, for [My] Own sake, & for My servant, David's sake. |
And it [happened,] that night, that the Angel of the Lord went out, & [killed] 185,000 in the [Assyrian's] camp. And when [the Israelites] arose early in the morning, [saw] they were all dead corpses.] |
For the salvation of Your people, You went [out], even for salvation with Your anointed. [2 Samuel 5:21-25 And [the Philistines] left their images, [a.k.a. idols,] there, & David & his men burned them. And the Philistines [still] came up again, & spread themselves in the Valley of Rephaim. |
And when David [inquired from] the Lord, He said, You shall not go up. But [circle around] behind them, over [next to] the mulberry trees. And let it be, when you hear the sound of [wind] going in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall [rouse yourselves.] |
For the Lord shall go out [in front of] you then, to [kill] the [army] of the Philistines. And David did so, [like] the Lord had commanded him. And [killed] the Philistines from Geba, until you come to Gazer.] |
You wounded the head of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah. [Judges 4:19-23 And [Sisera] said to [Jael,] I pray [that] you give me a little water to drink; for I'm thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, & gave him [some to] drink, & covered him. |
Again he said to her, Stand in the tent door, & it shall be when any man [comes] & [inquires] of you, & [says,] Is there any man here? You shall say, No. Then, Jael, Heber's wife, took a tent nail, & hammer in her hand, & went softly, [a.k.a. quietly,] to him, for he was [tired] & asleep. |
And [she] [struck] the nail into his temples, & fastened it into the ground, so he died, &, [saw,] as Barak pursued Sisera. Jael came out to meet [Barak,] & said to him, Come, & I will show you the man, whom you seek. |
And when [Barak] came into her tent, & [saw,] Sisera lay dead, the nail was in his temples. So, on that day, God subdued Jabin, the king of Canaan, before the children [people] of Israel.] |
Secretly [devouring] the poor, was their [reason for] rejoicing. They came out like a whirlwind to scatter me & You thrust through the [leaders] of the villages with his [spears.] [Jeremiah 34:15-17 And you [had] now turned & done right in My sight, [by] proclaiming liberty to every man & his neighbor. |
And you had made a covenant [contract] before Me in the house, [that] is called by My Name. But you [changed] [your minds] & [defiled] My Name, & caused every man & his servant & handmaid, whom he had set [free for] their pleasure, to return. |
And brought them into subjection to be servants & handmaids [for] you [again.] Therefore, the Lord says [this;] You haven't [paid attention] to Me, [by] everyone [declaring freedom] to his brother & his neighbor. |
The Lord says, [Watch,] I [declare] liberty for you to the: sword, to pestilence, & to famine. And I will make you removed, [a.k.a. scattered,] into all the kingdoms of the earth.] |
You [walked] through sea & the heap of [large] waters, with your horses. [Joshua 3:14-17 And it [happened,] when the people removed [themselves] from their tents, to [cross] over the Jordan [River,] & the priests [carrying] the Ark of the Covenant [in front of] the people. |
And [when] [those who carried] the Ark [had] come to [the] Jordan [River,] & the feet of the priests, [who carried] the Ark [had] dipped [into] the [edge] of the water, ([since,] all the time of harvest, the Jordan overflows all its banks,) & the waters [that] came from above, stood & rose up [in] a heap, very far [away] from the city of Adam, that is [next to] Zaretan. |
And those [waters] failed that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the Salt Sea, [a.k.a. The Dead Sea,] & were cut off. And the people [crossed] over right [next] to Jericho. And the priests, [who carried] the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord, stood [firmly] on dry ground, until the people were [totally] over [the] Jordan.] |
When I heard, my [stomach] trembled, & my lips quivered at the [sound.] [Psalm 119:120 My flesh [trembles] for fear of You; & I'm afraid of Your judgments.] |
[Rot] entered into my bones. [Proverbs 14:30-32 The life of the flesh, is a sound heart: but envy [is] the [rot] of the bones. He, who oppresses the poor, [disgraces] his Maker: but he, [who] has mercy on the poor, honors Him. The wicked are driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous [have] hope in his death.] |
And I trembled [within] myself, [so] that I might rest [on] the day of trouble, when he [who] comes up to the people & he will invade them with his troops. [Revelation 3:10-12 Because you [have] kept My Word [with] patience, I will also keep you from the hour of temptation, [that] shall come upon all the world, to [test those, who] dwell upon the earth. |
[Watch,] I come quickly. Hold [tight] [to what] you [have, so] that no man [takes] your crown. I will make a pillar [for] [those, who overcome] in the temple of My God, & he shall no [longer] go out. |
And I will write upon him the Name of my God, & the Name of the City of My God, which is New Jerusalem, [that] comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write upon him My new Name.] |
Although the fig tree shall not blossom; & neither shall fruit be [on] the vines; & the [work tending] the [olives] shall fail; & the fields shall no [longer] [produce food; the flock shall be cut off from the [pen;] & there shall be no herd in the stalls. |
[Still,] I will rejoice in the Lord. I will [have] joy in the God of my Salvation. [Isaiah 61:10 I will rejoice greatly in the Lord & my soul shall be joyful in my God. |
For He has clothed me with the garments of Salvation & He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, [like] a bridegroom [decorates] himself with ornaments & [like] a bride adorns herself with jewels.] |
The Lord God is my strength, & He will make my feet like [the] [hind] feet [of deer,] & He will make me to walk upon [my] high places: to the chief [musician] on my stringed instruments. |
[Deuteronomy 32:12-13 So, the Lord, Alone [led] him, & there was no strange god with him. He made him ride on the high places of the earth, [so] that he might eat the [increased] [produce] of the fields And He made him suck honey out of the rock & oil out of the rock [of flint.] |
