Eliphaz Implies Job Must Have Deserved It |
Job 4:1-21 Book of Job [in Smaller Chunks] |
Then, Eliphaz, the Temanite, answered & said, If we [try to speak] with you, [will] you [continue to] be grieved? Who can [keep] himself from speaking? [Look,] you have instructed many & you have strengthened [those with] weak hands. |
Your words have [uplifted those who were] falling & you have strengthened [those with] feeble knees. But it has come upon you now & you [faint.] It [affects] you and you're troubled. |
Isn't this your fear, [that affects] your confidence, your hope & your [upright] ways? I pray [that] you remember who [has] ever perished, being innocent? Or where were the righteous cut off? |
Even as I have seen, [those who] plow iniquity & sow wickedness, [harvest] the same. By the blast of God, they perish & by the breath of His nostrils they are [destroyed.] |
The roaring of the lion, the [sound] of the fierce lion & the teeth of the young lions, are broken. The old lion perishes for lack of prey [to eat] & the [strong] lion's [cubs] are scattered [around.] |
Now, [something] was secretly brought to me & [my] ear [heard] a little [of it.] [During] thoughts from the visions [at] night, when deep sleep falls on men, Fear & trembling came upon me, which made all my bones shake. |
Then, a spirit passed [in front of] my face & the hair [on my skin] stood up. It stood still, but I couldn't [recognize its appearance.] An image was before [my] eyes & there was silence & I heard a voice, saying, Shall mortal man be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his Maker? |
[Look,] He put no trust in His servants & [God] charged His angels with [lack of good judgment.] How much less [would He trust] in [those who live] in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the [dirt] & are crushed before the moth [is crushed?] |
They are destroyed from morning to evening. They perish forever without any [paying attention to] it. Doesn't their [excellence within] them go away? They die, even without wisdom. |
