Proverbs 29:1-27                                      Proverbs [in Smaller Chunks]

He, [who is corrected] often, [stubbornly hardens] his neck, & shall suddenly be destroyed without remedy. [2 Chronicles 30:8 [Don't] you be stiff-necked, [like] your [forefathers] were, but yield yourselves to the Lord, & enter into His sanctuary, [that] He [has] sanctified forever. And serve the Lord your God, [so] that the fierceness of His wrath may turn away from you.]

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people mourn. [Proverbs 28:2 When righteous men rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise [up,] a man [has] hidden [himself.]

[Whoever loves] wisdom [makes] his father [rejoice:] but he, [who keeps] company with harlots, [wastes] his [wealth.]  [Proverbs 9:14-18 For she [sits] on a seat, at the door of her house, in the high places of the city, to call [those] who [pass] right [by there] on their ways. Let him, [whoever] is simple [minded, [a.k.a. naive,] turn in [to this place.] And as for him [who lacks] understanding, she [says] to him, Stolen waters are sweet, & bread eaten in secret is pleasant. But he [doesn't know:] that the dead are there, & that her guests are in the depths of hell.]

The king [establishes] the land by judgment, [a.k.a. justice,]: but he, [who receives a gift, [a.k.a. bribe, overthrows] it. [Amos 5:12 For I know your [many] transgressions, & your mighty sins. They afflict the just, they take a bribe, & they turn [away] the poor in the gate, from their rights.]

A man, [who flatters] his [neighbor, spreads] a net for his [neighbor’s] feet. There is a snare, [a.k.a. trap,] in the [sins] of an evil man. But the righteous sing & rejoice. [Proverbs 11:5 The righteousness of the perfect, [a.k.a. without blame,] shall direct his [ways,] but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.]

The righteous [consider] the [case] of the poor: but the wicked [ignore] it. [Isaiah 1:23-24 Your princes are rebellious, & companions of thieves. Everyone [loves] gifts, & [follows] after rewards, [a.k.a. bribes.] They [don't] judge the fatherless, & neither [does] the [case] of the widow come to them. Therefore, the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, [says,] Ah, I will ease [Myself] of [My] adversaries, & avenge [Myself] of [My] enemies.]

Scornful men, [who look down on those in authority, lead] a city into a [trap:] but wise men turn away [fury.] [Proverbs 12:13 The wicked [are] snared by the [sin] of his lips: but the just, [a.k.a. honest,] shall come out of trouble.]

If a wise man [argues] with a foolish man, there is no rest, whether he rages, [a.k.a yells,] or [laughs.] The bloodthirsty hate the [righteous:] but the just seek his [well-being.] [Isaiah 1:15-18 And when you spread [out] your hands, I  will hide [My] eyes from you. [Yes,] when you make many prayers, I won't hear: your hands are full of [bloodshed.] Wash [yourselves,] & make [yourself] clean. Put away the evil of your [actions] from [in front of My] eyes; & [stop doing] [what is:] evil. Learn to do well; & seek judgment, [a.k.a. justice.] Relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, & plead for the widows. Now, come, & let us reason together, [says] the Lord. [Although,] your sins [are like] scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. [Although] they are red like crimson, they shall be [white] as wool.]

A fool [utters] all [that's on] his mind: but a wise man [holds it back until later.] If a ruler [pays attention] to lies, all his servants [appear to be] wicked. [When] the poo,r & the deceitful man meet together: the Lord [enlightens] both their eyes. [Proverbs 22:2 The rich & the poor [have this in common] together: the Lord is the Maker of them all.]

*The King, [who] faithfully [judges] the poor, His throne shall be established forever. [Psalm 72:2-5 He shall judge your people with righteousness, & your poor with judgment, [a.k.a. justice.] The mountains shall bring peace to the people, & the little hills, [through] righteousness.

*He shall judge the poor people, & He shall save the children of the needy, & shall break the oppressor into pieces. *They shall fear, [a.k.a. respect,] You, as long as the sun & moon endure throughout all generations.]

The rod & [discipline] give wisdom: but a child left to himself [brings] his mother to shame. [Proverbs 13:24 He [who spares] his rod, [hates] his son: but he [who loves] him, [chastises] him [beforehand.]

When the wicked are multiplied, [sin increases:] but the righteous shall see their [downfall.] [Proverbs 21:12 The righteous man wisely [considers] the house of the wicked: but God [overthrows] the wicked for their wickedness.]

Correct your son, & he shall give you rest; [yes,] he shall [bring] delight to your soul. [Proverbs 23:13-14 [Don't] withhold correction from the child. For if you [beat] him with a rod, he shall not die. You [shall] beat him with the rod, & [shall] deliver his soul from hell.]

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he, [who keeps] the Law is happy. [Jeremiah 23:16 The Lord of Hosts, [says this, Don't pay attention] to the words of the prophets, [who] prophesy to you. They make you vain, [a.k.a. conceited,] & they speak [about] a vision [from] their own heart, & not [from] the mouth of the Lord.]

A servant won't be corrected by words: [although] he [understands,] he won't answer. [Do] you [see] a man, [who] is hasty in his words? There is more hope [in] a fool, than [in] him.

He [who pampers] his servant from [childhood,] shall have him become [like] his son at the [end.] An angry man [stirs] up [discord,] & a furious man [abounds] in [sin.] [Psalm 37:8-9 [Stop] from anger, & [abandon fury,] & [don't worry] yourself, to do [what is:] evil, in any [way.] For [doers] [of] evil, shall be cut off: but those [who] wait upon the Lord, shall inherit the earth.]

A man’s pride shall bring him low: but [honor] shall [lift up] the humble in spirit. [Matthew 23:12 And [whoever] shall exalt himself shall be [humbled] & he [who humbles] himself, shall be exalted, [a.k.a. lifted up.]

[Whoever] is a [thief’s] partner, [hates] his own soul, [a.k.a. life.] He [hears] cursing, & [doesn’t betray] [who says] it. The fear, [a.k.a. respect,] of man [brings] a [trap:] but [whoever puts] his trust in the Lord shall be safe. [Jeremiah 1:7-8 But the Lord said to me, [Don't] say, I'm a child: for you [shall] go to all that I shall send you. And you [shall] speak, [whatever] I command you. [Don't] be afraid of their faces: for I Am with you, to deliver you, [says] the Lord.]

Many seek the ruler’s [approval:] but every man’s judgment, [a.k.a. justice, comes] from the Lord. [A dishonest] man is an abomination to the just, [a.k.a. honest,] & he, [who] is [righteous] in the [path,] is an abomination to the wicked.
