Having a Male Child Circumcised |
Leviticus 12:1-8 The Third Book of Moses Called Leviticus |
The Lord [spoke] to Moses, saying, Speak to the children [people] of Israel, saying, If a woman has conceived & bore a male child, then she shall be unclean 7 days; according to the [amount of] days of separation for her [during] the days of her [monthly] infirmity, she shall be unclean. |
[On] the 8th day, the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised. Then, she shall continue in the blood of her [purification] 33 days. She shall not touch any hallowed thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her [purification are] fulfilled. |
But if she [bears] a [female] child, then she shall be unclean for 2 weeks, [like] in her separation. She shall continue in the blood of her [purification] for 66 days. |
When the days of her [purification] are [complete,] whether for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb in its 1st year to the priest for a burnt offering & a young pigeon or a turtle dove as a sin offering, to the priest [at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. |
[The priest] shall offer it before the Lord and make an [atonement] for her & she shall be cleansed from the [flow] of her blood. This is the law for her [who] has [given birth to] a male or female child. |
And if she [isn’t] able to bring a lamb, then she may bring 2 turtle [doves] or 2 young pigeons, 1 as a burnt offering & the other [one] for a sin offering. The priest shall make atonement for her & she shall be clean. |
